As Gossip Cop has reported, Sieve is a 19-year-old contemporary dancer from Minnesota. She was one of the early standouts during the season 14 auditions, which took place in Los Angeles and New York. She was given a coveted ticket to the Dance Academy in L.A., where she particularly impressed All-Star Robert Roldan. He added her to his team of four dancers, and later decided she would be the one he’d take to the live shows as part of the Top 10. Over the last few weeks, Sieve has had a journey filled with a lot more highs than lows.

For instance, in mid-August, Sieve and Roldan received a standing ovation for their Broadway routine. Mary Murphy was visibly choked up afterward, and head judge Nigel Lythgoe told the pair, “You’re the couple to beat, I can see that.” That was extremely high praise. Unfortunately, the very next week, they were less successful with a samba performance, and Lythgoe actually amended his statement. “I said you were the couple to beat last week. You have to keep that standard every week. I can’t say that this week,” he admitted.

But by the end of the month, they were back in the judges’ good graces. Roldan and Sieve’s hip-hop performance had Lythgoe exclaiming, “Taylor, I thought you were this young, quiet dancer from Minnesota. Who are you tonight?! Who are you?! You’re like the tour guide from Soddom and Gomorrah, for god’s sake.” And in addition to impressing during her weekly numbers with Roldan, Sieve also proved to be one to watch during her solos, and when she did group performances or duets with fellow contestants.

Now for the penultimate episode and the last stage of the FOX competition, she had to perform multiple times over the course of two hours. The live broadcast started with a big group number featuring all the contestants and All-Stars. In addition, Sieve also had to do a series of duets with the Top 4 (Lex Ishimoto, Kiki Nyemhek and Koine Iwasaki) and perform as a group with all the finalists. Following the Top 4 number, Sieve teamed up with Nyemchek for a cha-cha, and he wanted to pull a “hidden sexy side” out of her. Mary Murphy said Sieve made it “work” and was a “hot tamale,” while Lythgoe even said that a spectator wouldn’t know that wasn’t her style. “You totally found your sexy side,” added Vanessa Hudgens.

Sieve’s second duet was with Iwasaki for a “sultry” jazz number choreographed by Mandy Moore. Lythgoe deemed it “fantastic,” while Murphy was amazed by the variety of moves and the attitude the women showd. Indeed, Hudgens said it exemplified women’s empowerment. Shortly after, Sieve and Roldan did their final performance together, for which she chose their Travis Wall contemporary routine from the very first week. After a standing ovation, Mary Murphy told her, “I’m so happy you picked that number, because if you didn’t pick it, I was going to pick it for the grand finale.” She went on to gush some more with tears in her eyes.

Lythgoe said, “It was almost for sure better this time around… The best I’ve seen you both dance.” And Hudgens, noting that Sieve said she skipped college because she just felt she had to dance, stated, “I think this is a lesson to all the ladies out there watching that a women’s intuition knows best, because you were meant to be here.” Sieve followed that with her last solo turn. Then, for the final dance of the night, Sieve and Ishimoto showed off their real-life romance with a romantic contemporary performance.

They openly kissed during the routine, and the judges gave an ovation. “Could be our first wedding of the show,” host Cat Deeley noted. “Who’s to say?” Murphy, with tears in her eyes, said she felt like a “weird proud parent.” Lythgoe praised the couple for sharing their story, and Hudgens said, “It’s so special when art gets to reflect your personal life.” Check out the videos below!
