Jessica Simpson was born on July 10, 1980 in Texas. She first discovered music while singing at a local Baptist church, where her father Joe worked as a minister.
In 1999, Simpson debuted her first album, “Sweet Kisses,” to tremendous commercial success. Notable singles included “I Wanna Love You Forever,” “Where You Are,” and “I Think I’m in Love with You.” Simpson began dating Nick Lachey during this time, and the couple recorded the duet “Where You Are.” Subsequent records included “Irresistible,” “In This Skin,” “Rejoyce,” “A Public Affair,” “Do You Know” and “Happy Christmas.”
Simpson was considered the antithesis to sexually provocative pop stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, with her music centered around romance as opposed to sex. She even revealed she was a virgin until marrying Lachey in 2002.
In 2003, Simpson and Lachey starred in the popular MTV reality show “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,” which documented their marriage. Her reality TV work would ultimately lead to acting jobs. Simpson went on to appear in such films as “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “Employee of the Month,” and “Blonde Ambition.”
In December 2005, Simpson filed for divorce from Lachey, citing “irreconcilable differences.” In November 2007, she began dating Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, but their relationship ended in 2009. In November 2010, Simpson became engaged to retired NFL player Eric Johnson. The two remain married and have two children, a daughter named Maxwell and son Ace.
