Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner was born on April 17, 1972 in Houston, Texas, but her family moved to Charleston, West Virginia when she was three-years-old. She studied acting at the National Theater Institute in Waterford, Connecticut, graduating from the program in 1994. Garner went on to score various stage roles in New York City, as well as small roles on various TV shows. During this time, Garner also supplemented her income by working as a hostess.

After moving to Los Angeles in 1997, she nabbed a bit part on the TV show “Felicity” and small roles in movies such as “Dude, Where’s My Car?” and “Pearl Harbor,” starring future husband Ben Affleck. Garner rose to fame in 2001 with a starring role on the hit ABC spy drama “Alias.” The show aired for five seasons from 2001 to 2006, during which time the actress also co-starred in 2003’s “Daredevil” alongside Affleck, and starred in 2004’s “13 Going on 30” and the 2005 “Daredevil” spinoff, “Elektra.”

Garner dated actor Scott Foley after meeting on the set of “Felicity” in 1998. The two married in October 2000 before she filed for divorce in May 2003, citing irreconcilable differences. She then dated her “Alias” co-star Michael Vartan from 2003 to 2004, before starting a relationship with Affleck. She married the actor in 2005 and they share three children together, daughters Violet (born December 2005) and Seraphina (born January 2009), and son Samuel (born February 2012). Garner and Affleck announced their separation in June 2015, and jointly filed for divorce April 2017, seeking joint physical and legal custody of their three children. It was also during this time that Affleck moved out of the guesthouse on the ex-couple’s property.

The actress has maintained a successful film career with roles in such movies as “The Kingdom,” “Juno,” “Ghost of Girlfriends Past,” “Valentine’s Day,” “The Odd Life of Timothy Green,” “Dallas Buyer’s Club” and “Miracles from Heaven.” She started out playing the leading lady in a number of romantic comedies before recently transitioning to several mom roles. In addition to her acting work, Garner has endorsement deals with Capital One and Neutrogena.

Garner is also a staunch activist for underprivileged kids, becoming an artist ambassador for Save the Children in 2009. She also served on the charity organization’s board of trustees. Additionally, the actress has campaigned for laws to prevent paparazzi from targeting the children of celebrities. She testified before the California Assembly Judiciary Committee in 2013 to support a bill that protecting celebrities’ kids from being harassed by photographers. The bill later passed and is now California law.
