Britney Spears

Britney Jean Spears was born in Mississippi on December 2, 1981, and raised in Louisiana, where she starting taking dancing and singing lessons at an early age.

She first rose to fame as a member of “The Mickey Mouse Club,” which she joined in 1992. Among her co-stars on the Disney Channel series were none other than Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling, and eventual boyfriend Justin Timberlake. In 1997, shortly after “The Mickey Mouse Club” was canceled, Spears signed with Jive Records.

Her debut album, “…Baby One More Time,” was released in 1999, selling 10 million copies in its first year. That was followed the next year by the chart-topping “Oops… I Did It Again.” To date, Spears has released nine studio albums, her most recent being the 2016 hit “Glory.”

While her music has been featured in numerous films, Spears also starred in the 2002 movie “Crosswords.” Additionally, she’s appeared on several TV shows, including “How I Met Your Mother.” And in 2012, Spears was a judge on “The X Factor,” replacing former judge Nicole Scherzinger.

Spears went on to headline her very own Las Vegas show, “Britney: Piece Of Me,” from 2013-2017. By most accounts, the production, staged at the AXIS theater inside the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, was a commercial success. Her last performance was watched by 25.8 million people when it aired live on ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” A little more than a month later, Spears announced she was taking her Las Vegas concert on tour, stopping at various U.S. and European cities throughout July and August of 2017.

Over the course of her career, Spears has won a slew of awards. She’s been nominated for a Grammy award seven times, and in 2005, she took one home for Best Dance Recording for the song “Toxic.” Spears has also won, among other accolades, seven Billboard Music Awards and six MTV Video Music Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.

On the personal front, in January 2004, after spending New Year’s Eve together in Las Vegas, Spears hastily wed her childhood friend Jason Alexander. The marriage was annulled 55 hours later. Later that same year, after just five months of knowing each other, the singer exchanged vows with backup dancer Kevin. Two sons, Sean and Jayden, were born in quick succession and by 2006, the couple had split with Spears filing for divorce on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences.”

Since then, Spears has dated a number of men, including Sam Lutfi, Jason Trawick, Charlie Eberson, and David Lucado. Spears is currently in a relationship with fitness model Sam Asghari. They met in October 2016 on the set of Spears’ music video for “Slumber Party.” While Spears and Asghari initially kept their romance private, as they grew more serious, the two have become more open about their love for one another on social media.
