Survivor Recap October 18 2017

On Wednesday’s “Survivor,” the tribes were switched up, mixing the Heroes, Healers and Hustlers together for the first time. Get the full recap and find out who was voted off below!

As Gossip Cop reported, last week’s “Survivor” featured Patrick being eliminated after his feud with Lauren came to a head. He was the one left blindsided when she and the rest of the Hustlers voted him out at Tribal Council. Tonight’s new episode, titled “I Don’t Like Having Snakes Around,” began on Day 9, with the remaining 15 players arriving at a new challenge. Host Jeff Probst then surprised them all by unexpectedly delivering one of his signature lines: “Drop your buffs.”

After picking new buffs at random, Ashley, Alan, Desi, Joe and Devon made up the new Levu tribe. The new Soko tribe featured Ryan, Ali, Chrissy, JP and Roark. And Yawa now included Jessica, Mike, Cole, Lauren and Ben. Some naturally felt advantaged while others saw themselves as disadvantaged by being with old or new team mates. Now for the reward challenge, three members of each tribe were tied and tangled up together and had to work their way out of the ropes to secure puzzle pieces. The two other competitors would then have to solve the puzzle. At stake: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, potato chips and supplies for future sandwiches.

Yawa had the lead when it came to starting the puzzle, which spelled out, “Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers.” They scored the win, leaving the other tribes disappointed and angered. Despite winning, Ben felt there was a target on his back since he was with three Healers and one Hustler. Jessica found a “secret advantage” in her chip bag, which gave her the power to anonymously block one person from voting at the next Tribal Council. She confided in her continual team mates Cole and Mike, and flirting partner Cole quickly told Ben and Lauren, hoping to earn their trust. Ben and Lauren took note of Jessica and Cole’s bond, testing Mike to see if he would go against them.

Mike and Jessica were furious when they learned Cole spilled about the advantage. “Cole burned me bad. He can’t even keep a secret for a day,” she told the cameras, tearing up as she questioned their blossoming romance. Meanwhile, Ryan was thrilled to be on Soko with Chrissy, confessing to her that he was the one who anonymously gave her the advantage for the first Tribal Council, and they quickly bonded. Ashley was unhappy to still be with “wild card” Alan on Levu, but they pledged their loyalty. Joe still had his idol and tried to get Hustler Devon to align with him and fellow Healer Desi by falsely saying former Heroes Ashley and Alan were after him.

At the immunity challenge on Day 11, the teams had to maneuver a crate of puzzle pieces through an obstacle before solving it. Yawa again had the lead when it came time to the puzzle solving and again got the win, this time earning immunity. For finishing second, Soko also won immunity. That left Levu as the tribe up for elimination. Now Jessica had to anonymously pass on her vote-blocking advantage to one of the players in danger.

Alan and Ashley knew Devon was the swing vote, and she convinced him that Joe was BSing him earlier. “Joe’s a snake, and I don’t like having snakes around,” Devon said in a confessional. Joe started a confrontation, telling everyone he wanted Ashley out. That started cross-fighting that solidified Alan, Ashley and Devon’s plan to vote him out, unaware that he had an idol. Desi, however, felt that Joe’s fight-starting put her in jeopardy, too. To make up for it, he actually offered to give up his idol to save her.

Before the ceremony, Devon discovered that an advantage was left for him. “If I have a secret admirer, that’s a beautiful thing. That and being a swing vote, I have all of the power in my hands,” he declared. His place in the middle, caught between Joe/Desi and Alan/Ashley was “out in the open” during Trial Council as they all pointed fingers at one another. Devon flat-out admitted that all he cared about was furthering his game. And before voting, he pulled out his advantage notice, only to learn that it was actually a disadvantage, and he was blocked from voting.

It was not revealed who used it against him, thanks to Jessica. After the ballots were cast, Joe used his immunity idol to protect himself. The votes for him no longer counted and Alan was the one axed with just two votes against him. Ashley was left stunned while Desi and Devon appeared impressed. Next week, their tribe is divided two against two.
