Did Steve Harvey take his daughter Lori on a trip to Italy to get her away from Sean "Diddy" Combs, only for him to follow them overseas? That's the story in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can confirm it's false.
According to the National Enquirer the Family Feud host "whisked daughter Lori out of the country" after learning that she had "hooked up with" Combs. To be clear, Lori is technically Harvey's stepdaughter. The piece goes on to insist that Combs followed the family to Italy. "Diddy is the highest of high rollers, so he thinks nothing of jetting to Italy even if only for one or two nights," says an anonymous source.
The alleged insider continues, "Lori seems completely smitten, but Steve is sure to be having words with her and warning her not to be distracted by his smooth tongue or flashy style. She's young and Steve doesn't want her to get hurt." The tabloid also refers to "an awkward dinner in Naples" where Steve, his wife Marjorie, Lori and Combs ate at a beachside restaurant where Lori "poured on the PDA" with the rapper behind her mom and stepdad's back. "A few days later, Diddy was gone," concludes the article.
Gossip Cop checked with Combs' rep, who tells us the story is simply "false." The rapper's spokesperson added that her goes to Italy every year with his own family. Combs even posted a video on Instagram featuring himself, his friends, and his children having a good time in Italy together, calling it the "Combs Family Vacation." The rapper didn't follow Harvey and his daughter to Italy, despite what the magazine's unidentified tipster alleges.
Combs' trip was planned well in advance, and it's nearly impossible he'd get his family and crew together for a spur-of-the-moment international flight and stay. If the rapper had truly just gone to follow the Harveys, why would he bring his entire family? Why would Harvey even agree to get dinner with Combs if he was so desperate to get her away from him? The reason the tabloid's report doesn't add up is because it's made-up.
Another question is how the Enquirer came up with the idea of the awkward dinner. Pictures show the four laughing and having a genuinely good time with friends, and the supposedly poured-on PDA consisted of Combs kissing Lori on the cheek and her placing her hand on his shoulder.
This isn't the first time the rapper has been the subject of a phony tabloid story. Last December, RadarOnline posted an insensitive and fake article about Combs seeking comfort from Jennifer Lopez following the death of his ex-girlfriend Kim Porter. One month prior, the Enquirer falsely claimed Combs was angry about Kanye West changing his name to "Ye" because he thought he was copying him. This latest article involving Harvey and his daughter might be the most ridiculous one yet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
