Are Sterling K. Brown and Justin Hartley feuding? A report claims the “This Is Us” co-stars are in a behind-the-scenes rivalry. Gossip Cop looked into the story.

The article in question can be found in the current edition of Star, under the headline, “No Brotherly Love For ‘This Is Us’ Hunks.” According to the tabloid, although “they may play brothers” on the hit drama, the actors are “far from fam off set.” A so-called “NBC source” is quoted as saying, “Sterling won an Emmy, but Justin thinks he deserves one too and is more than a little bitter about it.”

“Justin wants to elevate his role on the show and if his friendship with Sterling is collateral damage, so be it,” continues the supposed snitch. Consequently, alleges the gossip magazine, the colleagues are “now battling for story lines and more screen time,” although Brown is said to be “taking a more charming approach to boosting his star power.” Contends the purported tipster, “He has a way with words. Sterling knows how to make the right friends and court people, and his award seems to be proof!”

Curiously, the outlet never explains why Hartley would think he deserved to win an Emmy last month when he wasn’t even nominated, nor were co-stars Mandy Moore, Susan Kelechi Watson or Chris Sullivan. Nor does the publication mention that Hartley was actually nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award just last year. In other words, there’s no real reason for him and Brown to be competing, and he’s already had some of his own success. Still, Gossip Cop investigated further, and a Brown insider, who did not wish to be identified, exclusively told us it’s “so not true” that he and Hartley are feuding.

This isn’t the first time “This Is Us” has become fictional tabloid fodder. In August, Gossip Cop busted Star’s sister magazine, OK!, for ridiculously claiming NBC was forcing Moore and Milo Ventimiglia to act like a real-life couple. Here’s Gossip Cop’s recommendation going forward: These outlets should leave the drama on-screen instead of manufacturing it.
