Kesha’s request to be released from her contract with music producer Dr. Luke, who she claims sexually assaulted her, was denied by a New York judge on Friday. Stars are now reacting to the singer losing the injunction plea, and offering her support. See celebrity reactions below.

As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Kesha attended a hearing at the New York State Supreme Court to determine whether or not she would be released from her contract with Dr. Luke’s label at Sony as their dueling lawsuits continue to unfold. A judge, however, dismissed the motion, telling the singer’s lawyer, “You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry.” The judge added, “There has been no showing of irreparable harm.” Kesha began sobbing in the courtroom as a result.

And now there are several celebrities who are outraged and vehemently disagree with the court’s ruling. Lily Allen tweeted, “My thoughts are with @KeshaRose today. I’m sorry you’ve had to endure this experience.” Halsey expressed, “I don’t even know what I would do. I only hope she can find peace and find a way to continue to create express herself without fear.” The singer later added, “Disgusted by anyone in power positions abusing their authority. My heart breaks for Kesha and all people affected by this toxicity.”

“Girl Meets World” star Rowan Blanchard simply tweeted the trending hashtag “#FREEKESHA.” Wale offered words of encouragement by saying, “Don’t let anything stop you from shining,” and former “X Factor” contestant Bea Miller noted, “The fact that kesha has to choose to either freely make music or avoid the person who abused her is outrageous and degrading.”

Lorde wrote, “standing with @KeshaRose through this traumatic, deeply unfair time. send good vibes her way everyone.” Actress Mara Wilson tweeted, “There’s a quote, I believe from John Fogerty: ‘The music industry is so corrupt it makes Hollywood look like a charity organization.'” And rock duo Best Coast tersely pointed out, “This is some legit bullsh*t.”

Kelly Clarkson retweeted Best Coast’s message, adding, “Trying 2 not say anything since I can’t say anything nice about a person… so this is me not talking about Dr. Luke.” Ariana Grande wrote, “My heart is with @KeshaRose.” And Lady Gaga posted, “There are people all over the world who love you @KeshaRose. And I can say truly I am in awe of your bravery.” Both Clarkson and Gaga have been tied to Dr. Luke in the past.

“[Love] to Kesha #FreeKesha,” tweeted Chelsea Peretti. Sara Bareilles similarly wrote, “I send you love @KeshaRose.” Jack Antonoff simply stated, “FREE KESHA.” Tyler Oakley said, “I support @kesharose. #freekesha.” And JoJo, who also went through a record label battle, noted, “I don’t know all the facts, of course, but the bottom line is: it is a terrible feeling to not own your voice/ be able to release music. I felt very alone when I was going through my lawsuit. It was my fans who kept me going. The #freejojo campaign meant everything to me.”

Madison Beer wrote on Twitter, “As a female musician, it truly breaks my heart to see someone who just wanted to make music suffer so horribly. justice for kesha. NO MEANS NO. #FreeKesha.” Rose McGowan also exclaimed, “F*ck this #freekesha.” Director Jon Chu commented, “#FreeKesha We love u and support u @KeshaRose.”

Margaret Cho, who previously signed a petition advocating for Kesha, now tweeted “#FreeKesha.” And Iggy Azalea expressed, “If two people dont want to be in business with one another it seems very cruel for one to hold the other in a contract. Im not accusing anyone of anything, but i believe Kesha deserves the ability to move forward, create and earn a living.”

Meanwhile, a lawyer for Dr. Luke says in a statement, “We are pleased with the court’s decision from the bench fully denying Ms. Sebert’s motion for a preliminary injunction. As the court recognized, Ms. Sebert has always had the ability to proceed with her career if she so chooses. We remain confident that when all the facts are presented that Ms. Sebert’s allegations against Luke will be shown to be completely false and were asserted solely to extort money and gain contractual leverage.”
