Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced on Monday that he will veto the Religious Liberty bill that would have allowed faith-based organizations to discriminate against gay people. Now, stars are reacting to the governor’s monumental decision. See celebrity reactions below.

As Gossip Cop reported last week, many studios and Hollywood stars threatened to boycott filming in Georgia after legislators passed a bill that would make it legal for religious officials to discriminate based on sexuality. Some of the proposed practices included giving religious leaders the right to refuse to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies or hire gay employees.

Following an uproar from the entertainment industry, as well as many other companies that do business in Georgia, Governor Deal has refused to pass the Religious Liberty bill into law. During a press conference on Monday, the politician said that the bill “doesn’t reflect the character of our state or the character of its people.”

Many stars are now celebrating and commending the Governor’s ruling. Zoe Saldana tweeted, “Well… Thank you very much Governor!” Matt Bomer expressed, “Victory in Georgia! @GovernorDeal will veto discriminatory anti-LGBT bill Thank you to everyone who helped out on this!”

A couple of celebrities, however, expressed that North Carolina Governor Patrick McCrory should follow suit. The governor signed a bill last week that will prevent transgender people from using public bathrooms of their choice, and be forced to use ones corresponding to the sex on their birth certificates.

Judd Apatow retweeted an article about the Georgia ruling, and added, “Hopefully North Carolina will also return to kindness and logic.” Caitlyn Jenner wrote, “Great news from the governor of Georgia this morning. For all those from #NorthCarolina…” She then posted a link to a Funny Or Die mock tourism ad that highlights “all the fun straight things you can do” in “beautiful, intolerant” North Carolina. Gossip Cop will update as more stars react to the governor of Georgia vetoing the Religious Liberty bill.
