A certain website is claiming to know Sofia Richie has been warned by friends that Scott Disick is "like Donald Trump Jr." This ridiculous story was made-up just to capitalize on one of the week's most-talked about topics. Gossip Cop can bust it.
As we've now noted a number of times, when there is a subject dominating news in the celebrity world, HollywoodLife likes to jump on the bandwagon by pretending to have "exclusive" insight. These related stories, however, are often not just manufactured, but also unsubstantiated and untrue. This week, speculation that Trump once had an affair with Aubrey O'Day ran rampant in the wake of his wife filing for divorce. Now the blog is seizing on that and trying to connect Trump's alleged infidelity to, of all things, Richie's relationship with Disick.
The site is boasting that it has "exclusive details" on how Richie's friends believe the two men "have a lot in common" and are "certain she's going to get hurt." A so-called "insider" is quoted as claiming that the model's purported pals "actually like that the Donald Trump Jr. claims are out there because they are comparing Scott to Donald" and warning Richie that "this could be her future if she continues her relationship with him." But how, exactly, are Disick and Trump comparable? What do they have in "common"? Just what would be Richie's "future"?
Tellingly, neither the outlet nor its supposed "insider" ever say. It's suggested that Trump's alleged infidelity should serve as a "cautionary tale" for Richie, but never explained why. There certainly isn't any obvious connection. How would Trump allegedly being unfaithful to his wife after meeting O'Day through "The Celebrity Apprentice" have any bearing on Richie and Scott's relationship? Perhaps the point is that cheating ruins relationships, yet there's been nothing to suggest Scott is cheating on Richie and even O'Day herself doesn't believe her relationship with Trump in 2012 is what prompted his wife to divorce him now in 2018.
Still, there are no parallels between these couplings regardless. Trump may have cheated on his wife, but countless others have also had unfaithful marriages. Are all those cases also "cautionary tales" for Richie? HollywoodLies, as it's nicknamed, has thrown out a crazy premise and has nothing to support it. Surely if the online publication actually had an "insider," as alleged, it would've been able to get enough details for these assertions to make sense. But as presented, they're illogical and implausible.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that Richie's friends are concerned her romance with Disick will end in heartbreak. But it doesn't appear any real source actually shared credible information with the outlet. Rather, it seems the site merely concocted a tall tale to exploit people's interest in both the Trump scandal and Richie and Disick's relationship. As seen in our archives, HollywoodLies is regularly caught peddling made-up fiction about the couple. Now the blog has managed to come up with an angle that factors in a second hot topic. It's just not legitimate.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
