SNL Hillary Clinton Hallelujah

The cold open of “SNL” began with Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton playing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” on the piano, with a few lyrics about how it “went wrong.” There were no jokes. No actor playing Donald Trump. She then said, “I’m not giving up and neither should you.” Watch the video below of “Saturday Night Live” cold open.

For a little more than a month leading up to the presidential election, “Saturday Night Live” opened its five shows spoofing Clinton and Trump, prevously played by Alec Baldwin. In the show’s season premiere, “SNL” mocked the first presidential debate, with Trump repeatedly interrupting Clinton. Week Two had the sketch comedy program lampoomed Trump’s apology for the leaked video with Billy Bush.

The next “SNL” spoofed the second presidential debate, which was a Town Hall and featured questions from audience members including Ken Bone. The season’s fourth episode open again with “SNL” mocking the third presidential debate, with Trump calling Clinton a “nasty woman” and saying the U.S. has “some bad hombres.” And last week’s “Saturday Night Live” featured Clinton and Trump on CNN, trying to avoid questions about themselves while appealing to voters in a last-ditch effort.
