Sinead O’Connor is apologizing to Arsenio Hall for falsely claiming he gave drugs to Prince. The public apology is to settle the lawsuit Hall filed against O’Connor for making the untrue allegation.

As Gossip Cop reported, Hall sued O’Connor last May, just weeks after Prince’s death, in response to her alleging he contributed to the legend’s passing. O’Connor had posted on Facebook, “Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades… Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s b*tch).” She even claimed, “Arsenio I’ve reported you to the Carver County Sheriff’s office. Expect their call.”

O’Connor also accused Hall of once spiking her drink. In his $5 million defamation lawsuit, the former talk show host emphatically denied all the claims. He pointed out he hadn’t had any contact with her in more than two decades, and argued O’Connor was seeking attention through a topic she knew nothing about. But now the two have settled the matter out of court.

They say in a joint statement, “Sinead has retracted and apologized for statements she made about Arsenio last year, which prompted his defamation lawsuit against her.” O’Connor further tells TMZ, “I apologize for my Facebook posts about Arsenio to the extent that anyone thought I was accusing him of acting as Prince’s drug dealer and supplying him with illegal hard drugs, or insinuating that Arsenio had something to do with Prince’s death.”

“I sincerely apologize because those statements would be false, and I retract them unequivocally,” she adds. Hall now plans to dismiss his lawsuit.
