Shia LaBeouf is being sued for defamation and assault after a fight at a bowling alley last month. Now he could be on the hook for $5 million.

As Gossip Cop reported, in early April LaBeouf was kicked out of Pinz, a bowling alley in the Studio City section of Los Angeles, after a heated argument with a bartender at Jerry’s Famous Deli, which is located within the venue. Video of the incident showed the actor screaming at David Bernstein, the bartender, over his supposed refusal to serve LaBeouf French fries.

In the footage, Bernstein was holding a bottle of vodka, and LaBeouf could be heard yelling, “I’m asking you about french fries and you want to hit me in the head with a Grey Goose bottle.” He went on to scream, “You f***ing racist bitch! You f***ed up.” LaBeouf was ultimately escorted out of the establishment.

Now Bernstein has filed a lawsuit in which he gives his version of events. According to the legal documents, at issue was not merely French fries, but LaBeouf’s alleged intoxication. The bartender claims the movie star erupted after being told he could not buy any more alcohol. Bernstein acknowledges holding onto the vodka bottle, but asserts he only did so in self-defense.

He also takes issue with LaBeouf’s “racist” allegations, accusing the actor of trying to “incite” those witnessing the incident. Now Bernstein wants $5 million in damages on grounds of assault and defamation, according to TMZ. It’s unclear, though, what exactly substantiates the assault complaint. A rep for LaBeouf never responded to a request for comment back when the incident took place.
