Shia LaBeouf has pleaded guilty to public intoxication and disorderly conduct following his drunken arrest in Georgia earlier this year. The actor has agreed to a plea deal in which he’ll be sentenced to one day in jail, pay a $1,000 fine, attend anger management classes and undergo drug and alcohol counseling. The judge has also ordered the actor to write a letter of apology for going on a racist and profanity-laced rant against the arresting officers.

As Gossip Cop reported, LaBeouf was arrested in Savannah in July after becoming belligerent with a cop who refused to give him a cigarette. He became increasingly aggressive and fled the scene before being apprehended at a nearby hotel. The aftermath, which was caught on the officer’s body cam footage and released by the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police, shows LaBeouf spewing a racially-driven tirade at both black and white cops. The actor’s vulgar rant continued at the Georgia police station where he was booked. He was later released on a $3,500 bond.

LaBeouf issued an apology on Twitter shortly after the incident, acknowledging the severity of his actions and admitting he has a problem with substance abuse. The actor wrote, “I am deeply ashamed of my behavior and make no excuses for it. I don’t know if these statements are too frequent or not shared often enough, but I am certain that my actions warrant a very sincere apology to the arresting officers, and I am grateful for their restraint. The severity of my behavior is not lost on me.” LaBeouf added, “My outright disrespect for authority is problematic, to say the least, and completely destructive to say the worst. It is a new low. A low I hope is a bottom. I have been struggling with addiction publicly for far too long, and I am actively taking steps toward securing my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes.”
