The widow of fallen soldier Sgt. La David Johnson appeared on Monday’s “Good Morning America” to talk about her husband and the phone call she received from president Donald Trump. Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, more than ten days after he was killed in Niger, Trump allegedly told Johnson’s widow that “he knew what he signed up for.” Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, who was riding in a limousine with Myeshia Johnson to meet the casket at Miami International Airport last week, claimed she overheard the President’s call, but Trump later denied the allegation on Twitter. He wrote, “Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). Sad!”

Now on the morning show, the grieving widow spoke to George Stephanopoulos about her heroic husband. “I want the world to know how great of a soldier my husband was, and what a loving and caring father and husband he was to our family,” Johnson said. She added, “I don’t know how he got killed, where he got killed or anything. I don’t know that part, they never told me, I’ve been trying to find out.”

Johnson went on, referring to Trump’s allegedly insensitive phone call. “What [Trump] said was, he knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyway. It made me cry because I was very angry at the tone of his voice, he couldn’t remember my husband’s name,” she shared. “I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband’s name. That was hurting me the most, if my husband is out here fighting for our country, risking his life for our country, why can’t you even remember his name. My husband was an awesome solider.”

Johnson concluded, supporting Congresswoman Wilson’s claim. “Whatever Miss Wilson said was not fabricated. What she said was 100% correct,” she revealed. And on whether or not she had anything to say to the president after his phone call, she simply said, “No.” Shortly after Johnson’s interview aired on ABC, Trump took to Twitter to rail against the widow. He tweeted, “I had a very respectful conversation with the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, and spoke his name from beginning, without hesitation!” Watch the full “GMA” video below.
