Selena Gomez's mom Mandy Teefey does not call Justin Bieber "Satan," despite a claim from the tabloids. Gossip Cop spoke with Teefey exclusively, and we can set the record straight.
A headline in the current edition of Star is falsely exclaiming, "Selena's Mom Blasts Bieber: He's Satan!" The accompanying article begins, "With rumors swirling Justin Bieber is quitting music to start his own church, Selena Gomez's mom, Mandy, says her daughter's ex has no business knocking on heaven's door." From that very first sentence, it's obvious that this story is a sham. Gossip Cop already busted speculation Bieber is starting his own church nearly a month ago. And, far from quitting music, the superstar just dropped a new song called "Friends" only days ago.
That makes it clear right off the bat that the tabloid doesn't know what it's talking about and makes it apparent that there's little reason to trust the subsequent claims. A so-called "pal" that's "close" to the Gomez family alleges of Teefey and Bieber, "She calls him 'Satan.' Mandy even talks to strangers about how much she hates him." This supposed "friend" further contends to the gossip magazine, "Selena told her to take the high road, but Mandy refuses."
"She says it's what Justin deserves for making Selena, and their family, miserable for years," the purported tipster continues. "Mandy is such a sweet lady, but Justin is on her bad side forever. And she likes everyone [else]." That last line seems to be a reference to Bieber's song "Love Yourself," which includes the lyric, "My mama don't like you and she likes everyone." Many have assumed, albeit wrongly, that the track, which was primarily written by Ed Sheeran, is about his relationship with Gomez.
And to drive home the alleged point further, Star actually features a picture of Bieber with the caption, "Her mama don't like you..." But while the outlet insists Gomez "hopes her mother moves on from the 'Jelena' saga," it seems it's actually the publication that needs to move on, as this article has seemingly come out of nowhere. And, most importantly, the assertions aren't true. While the tabloid is alleging Teefey is unhealthily fixated on decrying Bieber every chance she gets, the producer actually tells Gossip Cop that she doesn't "waste" her time "gossiping about anyone," nor does she "waste" her "energy on negativity."
In fact, she adds that the outlet wasted its own time by publishing something so "irrelevant." Indeed, the magazine has run a lot of nonsense about the former couple over the years, including a 2012 story that falsely accused Gomez of cheating on Bieber. In that piece, it was alleged the singer-actress may have "strayed" from the relationship. In truth, the publication was straying from facts, truth-telling and reality, just like it's doing now.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
