Selena Gomez's mom Mandy Teefey is setting the record straight on the stories circulating in the media concerning her relationship with her daughter. The TV producer wrote a lengthy Facebook post on Tuesday explaining that she only has the best of intentions when speaking out about her daughter's career and personal life.

On Saturday, Teefey told Gossip Cop she's "not happy" about Gomez's rekindled romance with Justin Bieber, but further acknowledged, "Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy." The producer also told us her daughter is an "adult" and "can make her own choices." Unfortunately, many outlets sensationalized our story by making it seem as if Teefey had slammed her daughter for dating Bieber again. Although she expressed disappointment over the situation, the producer never bashed her own child.

In the wake of several inaccurate stories about the mother and daughter making the rounds over the past few days, Teefey took to Facebook on Tuesday to clarify some of the claims being made. "This is my LAST and ONLY comment in regards to media/comments," she writes. "I have done nothing but protect my child her entire career against vile people that have way more power than me, even after I was no longer managing because I am her mom."

Teefey goes on to note that she "did not do an interview with Gossip Cop," but Gossip Cop would like to note that we never purported to have an official "interview" with Gomez's mom. Instead, we asked Teefey some questions about her daughter, and she responded with the quotes used in our previous story. Some other outlets may have incorrectly referred to our article as an "interview," but we never sold it as such.

Teefey does acknowledge this point in her Facebook post, in which she states that she will "confirm or deny certain stories" to Gossip Cop as a result of being "drug through the mud for the entire month of December in the media." One of the false tabloid stories we asked her about was the claim that she was demanding Gomez get a breathalyzer test after reuniting with Bieber, which she debunked while also providing us with some of the additional information included in our article. "I shared more than not true in my debunk because I am tired of being accused of things that were not true and the lies coming from the people around Selena being put in the press and in her head," she says.

"I love my daughter, I have done nothing but help her dreams come true and protect her, but there is so much unknown to the world and more false information than truth," Teefey also notes in her Facebook post. "I taught Selena to be a strong woman, but as everyone in their 20s she is finding herself. I am a threat to the people who are trying to take advantage of her because she knows she can trust me and I love her." Teefey concludes, "I will always be her mother. If she hasn't muttered anger about me than I have not done my job as a mother." Gossip Cop would also like to note, in all of our interactions with Teefey, she's expressed nothing but love and respect for her daughter. Read the full statement below.
