HollywoodLife claims to have "exclusively" details about Selena Gomez fearing for the safety of The Weeknd during his concert tour following last week's mass shooting at a Las Vegas music festival. But Gossip Cop is told no one close to the singer has spoken to the site, which appears to be exploiting the tragedy with a phony story.

"Selena Gomez Fears For The Safety Of The Weeknd & His Fans Amid Breakout Of Concert Violence," reads a new headline on the untrustworthy the website. The Weeknd is currently performing in big cities across the country for his Starboy Tour, and now the site says his girlfriend is worried about an incident occurring at one of his shows. A so-called "source" tells the outlet, "Selena was rocked by the Las Vegas shooting and now fears for her boyfriend's safety and for the fans. Selena loves Abel so much, she would be crushed if he or his fans were hurt during his tour."

The outlet's questionable insider goes on to say Gomez ultimately "knows the show must go on," but she'll "be making an extra effort to check in with Abel before and after every show even to just say, 'I love you.'" But as Gossip Cop has repeatedly noted, no one in the singer's trusted inner circle is in contact with HollywoodLife. The aforementioned quotes were seemingly fabricated, as they certainly didn't come from anyone who knows Gomez. It seems the repeatedly discredited site is simply trying to capitalize on the deadly attack by pretending to know how the situation has affected a celebrity.

Naturally, the tragic Las Vegas shooting has made millions of people concerned for the safety of their loved ones at big public events, but HollywoodLife has no exclusive insight into Gomez's thoughts on the matter. In fact, Gossip Cop previously called out the webloid for pretending to know Gomez's "sad" reaction to The Weeknd going on tour when he first hit the road last month. That so-called "exclusive" was completely manufactured, and the same goes for this latest one.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
