A certain website is apparently pretending to know Selena Gomez's reaction to Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin hanging out and rekindling a "romance." Notably, this bogus, made-up story comes from the same blog the singer-actress has publicly called the "worst." Gossip Cop can bust it.
In the wake of Bieber and Baldwin spending time together in Miami, Gossip Cop knew it was only a matter of time before HollywoodLife manufactured Gomez's reaction. Early Tuesday, the site delivered, claiming to have "exclusive details" on why she's "having a hard time coming to terms" with Bieber's "potential new relationship." To add credence to this manufactured tale, the outlet quotes an almost assuredly nonexistent "source close to Selena."
"Selena is aware that Justin and Hailey have been hanging out again, and of course, it stings... It's painful for her to see that he's with Hailey again," asserts this seemingly fictional insider. In a telltale sign that this "source" was likely invented, some of the statements are conclusions virtually any fan could guess on his or her own: "She still has very deep feelings for Justin, despite everything that's happened there's a lot of love there... She isn't with Justin anymore, and he's free to do and see whomever he wants."
Comments like that amount to "duh" remarks, obvious and empty of specific, unique insight. That's particularly notable because the online publication's "exclusives" usually fall into one of two categories: Somewhat reasonable assumptions, which is the case here, or entirely off-base claims. Exactly a month ago, HollywoodLies, as it is nicknamed, was embarrassingly wrong when it alleged Bieber and Gomez's romance ended because he "couldn't promise marriage." Not only did that conflict with the website's own prior articles, but it significantly contradicted what had already been reported by far more reliable outlets.
And that piece, too, was based on a similarly unnamed and untraceable "source." If the site was so mistaken with that narrative, not to mention tons of others before that, there is no reason to believe its latest offering is the least bit credible. In fact, only weeks ago E! Online reported Gomez had "moved on" from Bieber, while "Entertainment Tonight" noted she was focused on "herself." That would seemingly rule out Gomez spending her time fretting about the Canadian crooner and Baldwin.
There's two other key reasons readers shouldn't trust this story: Gomez is on record calling HollywoodLife "the worst" in a Billboard interview. She has also told fans on Instagram that the publication is "never true." With her detestation of HollywoodLies so commonly known, it is implausible that a legitimate "source close to Selena" would share with the blog her personal feelings on Bieber and Baldwin, or on any topic for that matter. It should also be noted that both Bieber and Baldwin have publicly slammed the website, too. When you consider all of these factors, it's easy to tell this report was made-up.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
