Selena Gomez is not "wrecking" Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's marriage, despite a false report. Gossip Cop can correct the claim, which was sensationally made in one of this week's tabloids. Contrary to the magazine's premise, Baldwin and Bieber's marriage is not in trouble because of his ex-girlfriend or anyone else.

According to OK!, fewer than three months after the singer and model tied the knot in a New York courthouse, a "source" claims their marriage is "in jeopardy." The alleged tipster maintains that Bieber "blames himself" for Gomez's recent rehab stint. The supposed insider adds, "Hailey can't stand that Selena still has such a hold over him," and "seeing Justin fall apart every time something happens to his ex is destroying her faith in their marriage."

Interestingly, the purported quotes seem to know the inner feelings of both Baldwin and Bieber, meaning if there really is a legitimate "source," he or she would then be privy to the strength of their marriage. But whoever fed the tabloid its tale seems to be working off photos of Bieber getting emotional two months ago when Gomez sought treatment. In the intervening two months, as Gossip Cop has previously reported, Bieber and Baldwin have more openly expressed their commitment to and love for one another.

For example, on November 16, Baldwin changed her name on Instagram to Hailey Rhode Bieber. Also, Baldwin posted a photo to Instagram of her kissing Bieber on Thanksgiving, along with a caption that reads, "very thankful." For his part, on that holiday, Bieber posted a long message on Instagram that read, in part, "First thanksgiving as a married man... First time both sides of the family has come together." He added, "Relationships are hard and love isn't always easy but thank you Jesus for showing me how!"

And just around a week before that Bieber shared on Instagram a picture of him and Baldwin holding hands, with the message, "My wife is awesome." As Gossip Cop has said before, we'll take the words and actions of the couple ahead of unnamed, untraceable and possibly fabricated tabloid sources. It's true Bieber cares about his ex and that marriage can be difficult (for everyone), but Bieber and Baldwin's union is not being "wrecked" by Gomez. And the magazine offers no proof whatsoever of how she's supposedly put their marriage in "jeopardy."

Of course, OK! doesn't have a stellar track record with its reporting about Bieber. Nearly two years ago, the tabloid swore up and down Kourtney Kardashian was going to have Bieber's baby. Gossip Cop thinks enough time has passed to confidently call that a lie.

It seems these days the celebrity weeklies are fixated on claiming Bieber and Baldwin are headed for a divorce. The magazine's sister publication, Life & Style, tried it a month ago. Now Gomez is being thrown into the mix to make the false narrative even juicier. Irrespective of the different outlets' twists, it's still untrue. If the young couple splits one day, it will have nothing to do with Bieber's ex.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
