A website is purporting to know details of Selena Gomez‘s “getaway” with Justin Bieber, as well as her reaction to Jennifer Aniston‘s split. This story, however, was completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
As widely reported, Bieber and Gomez went to Jamaica earlier this week for his father’s wedding, which took place on Monday. On Wednesday night, HollywoodLife posted one of its faux “exclusives,” claiming it had “all the sizzling details” of the trip. The fiction factory asserted the couple was “currently kicking back” on the “getaway in Jamaica,” and bragged that, “thanks to our insiders, we’ve got all the important details on their romantic time on the scenic island.”
One of those supposed “insiders” was quoted as saying Gomez is “having the best time on their trip” and has been “telling her friends that it feels they’re on their honeymoon.” This almost assuredly invented source even alleged, “They’ve been getting private couple’s massages every day and having breakfast served in bed.” But here’s one of the ways Gossip Cop knows this is all fabricated: As seen on Instagram, Gomez and Bieber were already back in Los Angeles at the time this bogus story was published. They even went to church Wednesday night.
The blog is laughably pretending to have “details” on how they’re “currently” in Jamaica and “having the best time” when the couple was already long gone from the tropical locale. If the website really had an “insider,” though, as claimed, it would’ve known Bieber and Gomez had already returned home. But the outlet just exposed itself as clueless fibbers.
That’s why it’s pretty rich that the online publication continues its story by also claiming to know “how Sel is reacting to the shocking news” that Aniston separated from Justin Theroux. The same likely nonexistent “insider” contends Gomez is “absolutely heartbroken,” as the couple were her “inspiration.” The seemingly fake tipster adds, “But as sad as Selena is she’s not going to let Jennifer’s failed marriage deter her from thinking she can have her happy ending with Justin.”
Of course that’s an obvious notion. Why would Gomez let another celebrity’s failed relationship stop from her believing she can have her own successful romance? That would be ridiculous. So, what has HollywoodLies, as it’s nicknamed, really offered up? Well, this phony scoop consists of what Gomez and Bieber are doing on a trip they’re no longer on, as well as an assumed reaction to Aniston’s breakup that virtually anyone could’ve guessed.
This is precisely why Gomez once told fans on Instagram, “HollywoodLife is never true. Ever.” As Gossip Cop has outlined, the site regularly exploits Gomez and Bieber with made-up stories and fake news. But since no one in their camps actually dishes to the blog, the outlet ends up peddling provably false claims and transparent conclusions. That’s exactly what’s going on here.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
