Selena Gomez did not flee from an intervention from her friends and family to party with The Weeknd, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told it’s not true.

According to the National Enquirer, Gomez has “turned her back on her frightened family and friends and jetted off to Italy for an international bender with bad-boy boyfriend The Weeknd.” The magazine further alleges Gomez “flew the coop when she learned her family was planning an intervention to get her away from deadly drugs.” A so-called source tells the tabloid, “They’re afraid she could die if she doesn’t break it off with him.”

The magazine is pinning its story on The Weeknd having previously admitted to using drugs. However, it has no proof whatsoever that Gomez’s family was set to stage an intervention or that she was going to have a “bender” with the singer while abroad. In fact, she and The Weeknd looked happy and healthy at the Sunset Tower restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night.

A source close to Gomez, however, laughed off the publication’s claims and sarcastically called its reporting “amazing.” Of course, this is not the first time Gossip Cop has corrected the Enquirer. In case you forgot, the same tabloid alleged Gomez caused Brad Pitt’s divorce from Angelina Jolie. And if that weren’t crazy enough, the magazine also once printed a bogus story about Gomez having her sweat licked off by Justin Bieber to cool her off after a workout at SoulCycle. Much like those tall tales, the current one about Gomez fleeing an intervention to party with The Weeknd doesn’t have one lick of truth to it.
