A story about Selena Gomez "running home" after seeing Justin Bieber with Baskin Champion is fake news. Gossip Cop can bust the untrue report. We can also explain how HollywoodLife actually exposed itself as liars.
This week, photos and video captured Bieber hanging out with Champion, a model whose sister Abby is dating his friend Patrick Schwarzenegger. On Wednesday, HollywoodLies, as it's nicknamed, claimed to have "exclusive details" on how Gomez was "eager to fly back home from Australia" after learning Bieber and Champion were spending time together. A so-called "source" was quoted as saying, "Selena is fleeing Australia and headed home after seeing Justin with another woman."
The site's alleged tipster insisted Gomez was "getting on a plane now, headed back stateside," and asserted she "felt the need to run home immediately." Gossip Cop was instantly suspicious of this tale, considering that Gomez has described HollywoodLies as "the worst" and "never true, ever." But upon investigating, a rep for Gomez understandably declined to discuss her travel plans and we opted to respect her privacy
But now the website has posted another article that shows the aforementioned one was made-up. This new piece, published one day after the prior post, is about how Gomez is "finally leaving Sydney." Here HollywoodLies questions if she's "heading home to Justin Bieber after he got cozy with model Baskin Champion," and asserts that "if she has any worries" about the pair, "it sure doesn't show" in an airport photo. But just a day ago, the outlet was insisting Bieber and Champion were the reason Gomez was leaving Australia and that she was worried about what was going on between them.
Now the online publication is acting as if it never made such claims. What's most glaring, though, is that while HollywoodLies claimed on Wednesday evening (U.S. time) that the star was "getting on a plane now," Gomez wasn't seen at the airport in Sydney until Thursday evening (U.S. time). Obviously, then, the singer-actress wasn't actually "fleeing" Down Under when the site claimed she was. Furthermore, her departure now has nothing to do with Bieber and Champion.
As Gossip Cop has reported, the whole reason Gomez went to Australia was for the Colour Conference at Hillsong Church. Well, the event ended on Wednesday. She then spent Thursday in Australia, and wasn't seen at the airport until it was already Friday in Sydney. Clearly she wasn't rushing back to the States, as HollywoodLies had alleged. Time has often proven the blog wrong when it comes to Gomez's travel plans and whereabouts. That's exactly what happened here, and reinforces what Gossip Cop has rightly said: The website doesn't have real inside knowledge of or access to Gomez's world, so it shamefully makes its bogus "exclusives" up.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
