One of this week's tabloids claims Selena Gomez has had a serious falling out with her best friend and kidney donor Francia Raisa. There is no truth to the story at all. Gossip Cop can bust it.
Raisa famously donated her kidney to Gomez in 2017 when the former Disney star needed a transplant due to her struggles with lupus. An article in the latest issue of Star says Gomez's friendship with Raisa is "over." The reason? According to the magazine, Raisa is angry with Gomez for supposedly drinking and partying, despite swearing to "abstain from alcohol after the transplant." A version of this story was also published on the magazine's sister website, RadarOnline.
A so-called "source" is quoted as saying that Gomez's donor "called her out on the drinking," and accused her of doing the "exact opposite of what she said she was going to do when she got well again." The alleged insider adds, "Selena doesn't know that she can ever be a part of Francia's life again," as a result of being confronted by her.
Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the singer, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us the story is completely untrue. Our reliable insider even tells us that Gomez and Raisa hung out together as recently as this week, prior to the magazine publishing its phony story. The two women are still close friends, despite the magazine attempting to create nonexistent drama.
The tabloids have a habit of making up fake stories about the singer's alleged partying. Last year, Gossip Cop busted Star for falsely claiming Gomez was "on a party binge," quoting a "tipster" who incorrectly told the outlet "people are worried" and the singer was "tired and strung out and glassy eyed." That wasn't the case.
That bogus report came on the heels of another false rumor from the tabloid's sister publication, OK!, which contended that Gomez was on a "downward spiral" as a result of her split from Justin Bieber. Although it's true that Gomez has struggled with her mental health and with lupus, a chronic disease that affects a person's energy, these various narratives about her well-being are mostly fabricated.
Although the singer goes through personal struggles on occasion, this idea that she's constantly drinking, partying and having a breakdown isn't accurate. Regardless, Gossip Cop can most assuredly confirm that the singer is still close pals with Raisa.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
