While Selena Gomez is obviously “excited” to be cast in a Woody Allen movie, otherwise she wouldn’t be doing it, no one in her inner circle spoke to HollywoodLife, a site that’s become known for publishing fake news, about it. In its latest made-up article, the often discredited outlet claims to have insight into how Gomez feels about working with the filmmaker. But the article is nothing more than a collection of seemingly manufactured quotes that offer no inside information and, at times, reads like a Wikipedia page.

Basically, it was reported on Tuesday that Gomez and Elle Fanning will be joining the cast of an upcoming Allen film, and so the website concocted a story around that, reporting about the potential “backlash” they may face because Allen was accused in 1992 of molesting his adopted daughter Dylan. For the record, the screenwriter and director has never been charged with sexual abuse, and over the years he has denied the allegation. Still, HollywoodLies, as it’s nicknamed, claims it has “Selena’s reaction to the backlash.”

A so-called “source close to Selena” is quoted as saying in very unnatural language, “Despite his infamous history, Selena had no hesitation signing on to work with the successful director.” The seemingly fabricated “source” continues, “She feels like everyone has made mistakes in the past so she is not one to judge.” “Selena is hoping that she can learn a lot from working with the 4-time Oscar winner,” adds the almost assuredly made-up tipster, who clearly did a search of Allen’s Academy Awards wins.

Of course, no one in regular conversation would say, “4-time Oscar winner.” They would refer to him as Woody Allen. Additionally, despite the blog’s talk about her learning from the “successful director,” three of Allen’s Oscars were for Best Screenplay. He only won one Academy Award for directing (1978’s Annie Hall). And most significantly, a real-life person wouldn’t say of sexual abuse allegations, “Everyone has made mistakes in the past.”

The truth is no one “close to Selena” is feeding this repeatedly disproven site anything about the actress and singer because Gomez herself has called HollywoodLife “the worst” in the press. She also once told her Instagram followers, “HollywoodLife is never true. Ever.” So, why would any legit Gomez source talk to that blog?

The answer is none do, as Gossip Cop has been assured on numerous occasions by people in her camp. Simply, HollywoodLife makes up fake news about Gomez. Six months ago, for example, the site falsely claimed Gomez was pregnant. Naturally, that wasn’t true nor were the dozens of other HollywoodLies articles that Gossip Cop has ended up busting since then. Again, while she may indeed be “excited” to work with Woody Allen, no real Gomez pal is sharing her thoughts with untrustworthy outlets like HollywoodLies.
