HollywoodLife routinely makes up fake news stories about Selena Gomez, including tales about how she would like to “double date” with a slew of other celebrity couples. The current one involves a proposed double date with Gomez and The Weeknd and her friend Taylor Swift and new boyfriend Joe Alwyn. But like its previous reports, Gossip Cop is told this is also a fabrication.
In the past, the website has concocted phony reports about Gomez and her “boyfriend” Niall Horan wanting to double date with a number of their friends, including Swift and Zayn Malik. Of course, those lies blew up in the blog’s face because Gomez never dated Horan. And not one of the site’s other claims about “double dates” ever came to fruition either (see below).
At best, the HollywoodLies, as it’s known, is guessing. For the most, though, the often discredited outlet treats Gomez and other celebrities as if they’re part of a giant Mad Lib, in which it has a few different scenarios and simply plugs in the name of stars for particular stories. The latest manufactured article alleges Gomez “can’t wait” to go on double dates with Swift and Alwyn. It should be noted, this is all coming from the same outlet that previously and wrongly maintained Swift and Gomez were no longer friends.
Anyway, in it’s new cooked-up scenario, HollywoodLies claims Gomez is “waiting for [The Weeknd] to get back from his tour so they can go on double dates.” One of the site’s seemingly made-up sources is quoted as saying how Gomez is “eager to go on fun double dates with Taylor.” And that’s the entirety of the story. Not surprisingly, the supposed “insider” doesn’t have any details about where or what kind of “fun” double dates the four of them would have because that would require even more of an imagination from the fictitious “source.” Regardless, Gossip Cop is assured by actual insiders that this story is simply yet another fabrication.
As opposed to the word of sources, it’s worth pointing out what Gomez herself has said about HollywoodLies. She once posted on Instagram for her millions of followers that the site is “never true. Ever.” And in an interview with Billboard a couple of years ago, Gomez said pointblank, “HollywoodLife is the worst.” Knowing that, it’s clear no one in Gomez’s camp or her friends dishes to the repeatedly disproven outlet about anything, including “doubles dates.”
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
