Selena Gomez has not "ditched" her career to focus entirely on her relationship with The Weeknd, despite a report. Gossip Cop can explain why this fake news is 100 percent wrong.
"Groupie Selena! Gomez Ditches Career To Tour With The Weeknd," declares a headline from RadarOnline, which similarly asserts in the story that Gomez has "put her entire life on hold to become a groupie for her superstar boyfriend." Consequently, the wbeloid claims her "family and friends are worried sick!" A so-called "insider" is quoted as saying, "Selena has completely shut out her family and friends for over a month now."
The site goes on to claim "her man is all she has right now," and further contends, "With only one project in the works — Hotel Transylvania 3 — Gomez has a lot of time on her hands to play second fiddle to her superstar boyfriend." Asserts the outlet's supposed source, "She is not working right now and has put her career on hold to follow The Weeknd around on his world tour."
As additional evidence, the online publication points out, "She even played arm candy on the Met Gala red carpet this year in New York." Adds the alleged tipster, "She is not responding to anyone's texts, calls or emails at the moment... No one can get through to her right now."
Someone might want to "get through" to RadarOnline because the webloid and its "insider" have painted an extremely inaccurate picture. First off, Gomez didn't show up to the Met Gala merely as "arm candy" for The Weekend. She's attended in years past, long before their romance ever began. She also has far more than only Hotel Transylvania 3 in the works. The singer-actress is producing the second season of "13 Reasons Why" and working on her upcoming album.
Yes, she has popped up at a number of The Weekend's tour stops and stepped out for dates. But one of the luxuries of being a musician is that you don't have to be tied down to any particular location if you don't want to be. Gomez can travel extensively. It doesn't mean she's "ditched" her career or put it "on hold." In fact, the outlet conveniently fails to mention that Gomez did several in-person radio interviews this week precisely FOR her career.
Also not mentioned in this story is the fact that Gomez has released two new songs in the last six months, including "Bad Liar," which came out just weeks ago. So, exactly how has the star abandoned her career for The Weeknd? It's quite obvious she hasn't. And the notion that she's "not responding" to messages from family and friends rings untrue given that she often posts about them on social media.
Perhaps RadarOnline got its information from a misinformed "insider," or someone trying to dupe the publication. But it would take only a quick Google search to discover all that Gossip Cop has pointed out. Instead, the site chose to publish completely untrue fake news.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
