A story about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber making their red carpet debut as a reunited couple at the AMAs was made up. Gomez is slated to perform at the American Music Awards on Sunday, but Gossip Cop has confirmed that no one in her inner circle is really talking to a certain webloid about her red carpet plans.
We are, of course, referring to the fabrication factory known as HollywoodLife, which manufactured an article that basically says Gomez is currently not planning to walk the red carpet with Bieber, but could change her mind. The report plays it down the middle so the site can appear right either way: If she doesn't attend with Bieber on her arm, it can say that was always the plan. And if he does accompany her, it can say that they made a last-minute decision. It's a win-win for the outlet, right? Wrong: No matter what ends up happening on Sunday, it's not a win when your story is completely bogus, as this one is.
What's particularly laughable is that, after noting Gomez and Bieber previously went to the 2011 AMAs together, the online publication brags it has "exclusive details on if they'll do it again in 2017." What the blog actually has is a supposed "member of Selena's glam squad" saying they may or may not, which isn't exactly an answer. This purported source is quoted as saying, "She's been saying she and Justin aren't going to do any red carpets together, but she's very unpredictable at the moment... It's very hard to know what she'll do." So, will they "do it again" this time? The webloid and its alleged tipster clearly don't know.
The site is also factually wrong when it asserts Bieber and Gomez "made their first red carpet appearance together" at the 2011 ceremony. The on-and-off couple's actual red carpet debut was at the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscars party roughly nine months prior. The outlet that doesn't know such a huge detail about their relationship is not an outlet that is going to get the scoop on Gomez and Bieber's personal plans.
As Gossip Cop has pointed out, this is the same publication Gomez publicly called the "worst" when discussing gossip site with Billboard. No "glam squad" member or anyone close to her would betray her trust by leaking private information to this blog. Gossip Cop is told on background that no one did, which is why this concocted story transparently tries to play both sides of the coin.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
