Sean Spicer is not booked or in "hot talks" to appear on "Weekend Update" during the summer edition of "Saturday Night Live," despite a new report. Gossip Cop can correct this claim. We're told it's not true.
According to RadarOnline, Donald Trump's former press secretary may do a "live walk-on appearance" during an episode of the late-night sketch comedy program's summer show. A so-called "source" is quoted as telling the website, "Sean is in hot talks to do a cameo on 'Weekend Update,' and it could happen as soon as this Thursday during the premiere episode." The outlet's unreliable source goes on to claim that Spicer's supposed "Weekend Update" appearance "won't take up too much of his time," and would "delight" fans of the show.
And while a cameo obviously "won't take up too much of his time" and would "delight" fans of "SNL," neither of those two pieces of information is insightful. It appears, at best, the site is simply guessing (or perhaps hoping) that Spicer does a walk-on. That, however, is far different from actually knowing. A high-level "SNL" production source, however, tells Gossip Cop that Spicer is not "hot talks to a cameo" to appear on the show, nor has there been talk of having him on the special summer episodes.
As Gossip Cop noted, it's not an entirely bad guess since the former press secretary is out of the White House, and "SNL" had Melissa McCarthy impersonate Spicer repeatedly last season to great fanfare. But, as of now, it's not anything "Saturday Night Live" is negotiating. Should Spicer be approached to make a cameo on the summer edition of "SNL," Gossip Cop will confirm it with one of our many inside sources at the show.
Of course, RadarOnline has been wrong before with its "SNL" reporting. For instance, the outlet claimed a year ago that Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones were leaving the program. Of course, they both were on the show last year, and they're set to return again this upcoming season.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
