Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is not seeking comfort from Jennifer Lopez following the death of his ex-girlfriend, Kim Porter, despite a new and unsubstantiated report. Gossip Cop can correct this claim, which seemingly is trying to capitalize on the tragedy. A rep for Diddy calls it all “insane.”
According to RadarOnline, following the unexpected death of Porter — the mother of three of Diddy’s kids, Christian, Jessie and D’Lila — he’s “found comfort on the shoulder of ex, Jennifer Lopez.” After bizarrely quoting an anonymous and possible made-up “source” noting how Lopez is “not getting back together or cheating behind A-Rod’s back,” the same untraceable tipster says J. Lo and Diddy are “like brother and sister,” and it was he who “encouraged her to pursue a music career and focus on fashion.” Of course, none of that is an example of how he’s “leaning on” J. Lo.
It’s simply indicative of them remaining friendly after having broken up in 2001. (In late September, Lopez gave Diddy a hug while partying with Alexander Rodriguez following the final performance of her residency, “All I Have,” at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.) But does Lopez “comfort” Diddy with calls, personal visits, daily texts? The site’s flimsy and possibly manufactured article offers no details or evidence whatsoever.
Notably, in various reports about the celebrities who joined Diddy at the funeral for Porter, there’s no mention at all about Lopez being there. Among the stars who paid tribute to Porter at her funeral in Georgia were Usher, Mary J. Blige, Russell Simmons, NeNe Leakes, DJ Khaled, Faith Evans, and Al B. Sure, the father of her son Quincy Brown.
While the frequently debunked website predicated its weak-on-facts story on an unnamed “source,” a spokesperson for Diddy’s called the report “insane.” For full disclosure, the rep questioned why Gossip Cop would even devote an article to correcting the untrue tale, to which we expressed our belief that RadarOnline should be held accountable for posting falsehoods, especially on the back of a tragedy. We reached out to Lopez’s camp for an official comment, but have yet to hear back.
It bears mentioning, the blog doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to reporting about J. Lo. For instance, Gossip Cop busted the site nine months ago when it wrongly floated that Lopez was engaged to Alex Rodriguez. And a year before that inaccuracy, we corrected the outlet when it falsely maintained Lopez had gotten back together with Ben Affleck, with another unidentifiable “source” asserting they had “so much chemistry between them,” it were as if they had “never split up” 13 years earlier.
Meanwhile, the website’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, hasn’t been much better with its reporting about the music mogul. A few weeks ago, Gossip Cop shot down a phony claim about Diddy being upset that Kanye West was changing his name to Ye. Still, their other sister outlet, OK!, similarly regurgitated the blog’s article about Diddy “leaning on” Lopez without presenting any proof either. Repeating a lie, however, never makes it true.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
