Scott Weiland has died at 48. The singer was found dead on Thursday on his tour bus before a performance in Minnesota, Gossip Cop has confirmed. No cause of death has been given yet.

The former Stone Temple Pilots frontman was slated for a concert with his new band Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts at the Medina Balroom in Bloomington, but was discovered dead on his bus shortly before the show at approximately 9 p.m.

On his Facebook page, a note read, “Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected.”

While it’s unclear what led to Weiland’s death, the singer had a sad history of drug abuse and run-ins with the law as a result. His younger brother Michael died in 2007 from cardiomyopathy. With the news of his death, Weiland’s name quickly began to trend on Twitter, along with an outpouring of tributes to the singer.

Weiland is survived by his third wife, Jamie Wachtel, and two teenaged children from a previous marriage. Gossip Cop will update as more information emerges about Weiland’s sudden passing.
