Did Scott Disick proposed to girlfriend Sofia Richie on her 21st birthday? That's what one of the tabloids is claiming. Gossip Cop looked into the story and we can confirm the couple hasn't gotten engaged.
Star published the report, complete with a picture of Disick and Richie labeled "The Future Mr. And Mrs." The outlet quotes an unnamed source as saying, "Scott got down on one knee on the morning of her birthday and asked her to marry him. Of course she said yes — she's crazy about him."
The outlet further contends that the two are keeping the news primarily to themselves so as not to upset Disick's ex, Kourtney Kardashian. "They're good friends, but she's still the mother of his kids," says the supposed tipster, "she'll always carry a torch for him." The only other person in the know, besides the magazines so-called "insider," is said to be Richie's best friend, Kylie Jenner. "Kylie knows Kourt will go crazy if she discovers she kept it from her, but Kylie doesn't want to betray her pal."
Gossip Cop ran the story by an individual in Disick's camp, who tells us it's simply untrue. If this engagement is so top secret that only Jenner knows, who is this "insider" and how did they find out? Additionally, Disick and Kardashian are on great terms and she gets along well with his girlfriend. There would be no reason to hide the news from her.
It's worth noting, after Disick bought Richie an Aston Martin as a birthday present, she posted photos of the car on social media and awarded Disick the "Best BF Award." She didn't refer to him as her fiance or even another more serious term suggesting he's more than her boyfriend. If and when the two do get engaged, it's hard to believe there won't be a splashy announcement involved.
Just a few months ago, Star falsely claimed Disick and Richie were headed for a split because she wanted kids and he didn't. This latest article makes no mention that phony scenario. It's clear the tabloid is wholly unaware of anything about their relationship.
The magazine's sister publications are just as bad with the truth. In April, OK! wrongly reported Disick and Richie were "being torn apart" by Kardashian. Shortly later, we called out RadarOnline for making up a story about Kris Jenner pushing Disick to propose to Richie "on camera." This latest article involving a birthday proposal is more nonsense.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
