Scott Disick and Sofia Richie are not engaged and planning a wedding, contrary to a report. Though a tabloid is alleging he proposed during a recent trip, Gossip Cop has learned the claims are untrue.
“Wedding Bells For Sofia & Scott,” announces a headline in In Touch, where the tabloid contends, “They just went public with their romance, and she’s only 19, but that isn’t stopping Scott Disick and Sofia Richie from getting married!” According to the gossip magazine, “After jetting from Milan to L.A. on Oct. 14, Scott asked Sofia to be his bride.” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “During a romantic candlelit dinner, he popped the question and Sofia said yes.”
So, why hasn’t Richie been spotted wearing an engagement ring? The supposed snitch has a convenient explanation for that, claiming, “[Disick] went ring shopping while they were in Milan but hasn’t purchased one yet. He gets Sofia’s funky style and is on the hunt for the ideal rock.” Sure. And despite the lack of a ring and an engagement announcement, the outlet maintains the couple is “already talking wedding plans.”
“They want to tie the knot abroad on a tropical beach with cocktails and champagne flowing during a wedding party that’s casual and super fun,” alleges the publication’s purported tipster, who adds, “But they want to keep their plans secret for now because once they make an official announcement, all hell will break lose.” Sure. That’s why a “source” leaked the “secret” to a tabloid?
To recap, In Touch wants readers to believe Richie and Disick are engaged, but he hasn’t gotten her a ring yet and there’s no announcement because they want to keep it private, even though they’ve been showing extensive PDA on two continents. Of course, the real reason for no ring and no announcement is obvious: They aren’t actually engaged and wedding planning. In fact, a Richie insider, who does not wish to be identified, tells Gossip Cop that the couple isn’t talking about an engagement or a wedding. It is not on the agenda for the foreseeable future.
It’s also pretty rich that this magazine is claiming to know what would be private information when it is known for often making up crazy claims, like a 2015 cover story that falsely announced Disick slept with Kourtney Kardashian’s sisters. And then there was a piece from the outlet last year that wrongly claimed Kardashian was pregnant with Disick’s fourth child. The publication may like writing about Disick to get readers’ attention, but it clearly doesn’t do so accurately. HollywoodLife is guilty of doing the same, as it regurgitated the untrue engagement claim without bothering to fact-check it first.
