Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost are not throwing a lavish wedding at Hugh Jackman’s house in East Hampton this summer, despite a bogus tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. It’s completely untrue.

According to Woman’s Day, the newly engaged couple is spending $1.5 million on an over-the-top ceremony that Jackman and his wife will host at their vacation home in New York. A supposed source tells the magazine, “Colin loves to party. It’s one of the things that drew Scarlett to him, so they’re working on making it the wedding of the year.”

The guest list for the supposed ceremony will include a ton of celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Chris Hemsworth and Brie Larson, says the alleged insider. “[Johansson’s] going all out, with plans for a fireworks display and a concert with the likes of Tom Waits and Stevie Wonder,” adds the questionable tipster.

The seemingly phony source further contends that the head chef of Johansson’s “favorite New York restaurant The Odeon” will be catering a “six-course dinner featuring all her favorite dishes.” The suspicious insider also maintains that the actress has been working with the creative director of Marchesa to design her wedding gown.

The tabloid’s story is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but separate reps for both Johansson and Jackman are going on the record to dismiss it. The actress’s spokesperson tells Gossip Cop the article is “complete nonsense.” Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the actor laughed off the report before assuring us it’s “completely made up.”

It should be noted, Woman’s Day has a habit of planning imaginary nuptials for celebrities. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom were getting married at Kate Hudson’s house in Los Angeles. No such ceremony took place, but the publication clearly enjoys the concept of a famous couple tying the knot at another celebrity’s home.

Gossip Cop also called out the magazine last year for wrongly reporting that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were getting married in Italy. The couple didn’t get engaged until a full year later. We also debunked the outlet’s report about Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson having a $3 million wedding in the Caribbean. The two split shortly after we corrected the story.

Here’s what’s really happening. The tabloid frequently takes a celebrity couple and decides to create imaginary wedding plans for them. Johansson and Jost are just the latest targets thanks to their recent engagement.
