Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost are planning a winter wedding and a baby? That's the latest claim about the couple in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop can confirm that it's false.
An alleged tipster tells the National Enquirer, "Scarlett's putting wedding plans in motion and hopes to be pregnant in the next few months as well. It's all very hush-hush, but word is the ceremony is taking place this winter. She's in the process of sending out the wedding invites now!"
Based on the fact that both Johansson and Jost are from New York City, the outlet says they're planning a small, private ceremony in the Big Apple. The magazine then arbitrarily mentions Johansson's two previous marriages that ended in divorce, adding that the Black Widow star is determined to make her third marriage work. Of course, this isn't the most insightful statement, as it's not exactly a stretch to say the actress wants her third marriage to be successful.
"She wants to give Colin a child too, the sooner the better!" adds the anonymous insider. "Scarlett thinks he's a special guy and knows he'll be a great daddy!" To accent this claim, the outlet suggests Johansson might already be expecting by including a picture of the actress at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8, along with a circle around her midsection and the caption, "A little bump."
The outlet's premise is based on the word of an unknown "source," but Johansson's rep is going on the record to refute it. The actress hasn't set a date for her wedding, so the location is still up in the air, too. This also means no invitations have been sent out. The publication is clearly just trying to bet on the two having the ceremony in New York City based solely on the fact they're both from there and live there. Should they tie the knot in New York, it will be a lucky guess on the magazine's part, not something that's based on genuine "insider" information.
The tabloid also falls into the familiar trope of pointing to non-existent "bumps" on female celebrities. There's an extremely one-sided standard the tabloids push that requires famous women to only wear skin-tight clothing or show off their abdominal muscles, lest they be bombarded with pregnancy rumors. Photos of Johansson after the film festival reveal her looking as in-shape and bump-free as she has for the past few years.
The Enquirer and its ilk are consistently wrong about Johansson and Jost's relationship. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop busted one of the tabloid's sister publications, Star, for a piece about Johansson and Jost being headed for a split. The couple announced their engagement mere days after the story was printed.
In August, Gossip Cop called out the same magazine for wrongly reporting Johansson and Jost were having a fall wedding in New York. The gossip media will continue to regurgitate these stories until the two do eventually wed. Gossip Cop will keep debunking these inaccurate articles about the couple's marriage and family plans.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
