Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost have gotten engaged after two years of dating, but just last week, one of the tabloids claimed the couple was "calling it quits." In addition to being false, the report was very poorly-timed. Gossip Cop can expose the bogus split story.
The latest issue of Star features a headline alleging that the actress and the "Saturday Night Live" star are "on the rocks." According to the outlet, Jost got wind that Johansson was "caught cozying up" to an unidentified man in New York city, "kissing him on the mouth and walking hand in hand as they chatted." There are no photos or any other type of evidence to back up this claim.
A supposed source is then quoted as saying, "I don't know how much more of this Colin can take. He acts all calm and collected, but that's his thing. Inside, he's ready to burst." Just a few days after the phony article hit newsstands, however, the news broke that Johansson and Jost are set to wed.
Not only did Star falsely claim the newly engaged couple was splitting, but the magazine also attempted to spread false cheating allegations. Real life events have disproven the report in just a matter of days. It's worth noting, Gossip Cop busted the outlet back in October 2017 for wrongly reporting that Jost would be proposing to Johansson by the end of the year. Of course, the engagement didn't come until May 2019.
Last November, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for making up a story about Johansson telling Jost to quit "SNL" and focus more on their relationship. In the time since we debunked the made-up report, the actress has accompanied her fiance to multiple afterparties following the sketch show. The actress is nothing but supportive of Jost's career.
Back in December, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid's sister outlet, OK!, for wrongly reporting that Johansson and Jost had gotten engaged over Thanksgiving. The following month, that same magazine contended that Jost was hesitant to propose to Johansson because of her three previous marriages and divorces.
These various tabloid stories about the couple are contradictory and have been proven false with the passage of time. It's quite clear at this point that the gossip media has zero insight into the couple's relationship. Unfortunately, Gossip Cop suspects there will be more phony narratives about Johansson and Jost now that they're headed down the aisle.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
