Is Scarlett Johansson “tired” of hanging out with her Avengers co-stars? That’s what one of this week’s celebrity magazines is claiming. Gossip Cop, however, can correct this false report.
According to Star, Johansson is “thrilled that she’s in the final stretch when it comes to promoting her latest Avengers flick.” The magazine insists she’s “getting tired of having to do press alongside co-stars Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd and Chris Hemsworth.” To make its point, the tabloid quotes a so-called “insider” as saying Johansson “feels her Endgame castmates are bringing her down and not allowing her talent to shine.”
“She can’t wait to go it alone with her character, Black Widow,” maintains the supposed “insider.” The source further asserts Johansson “anticipates it will be a much more Marvel-ous experience” when Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh join her in Black Widow. “It’ll be a welcome relief from the boys’ club,” notes the tipster.
Far from being miserable promoting Avengers: Endgame with her co-stars, Johansson adores and is super close to them. In fact, last year Johansson suggested she, Hemsworth, Downey, Chris Evans, and Jeremy Renner get matching Avengers tattoos, which they did. And contrary to the tabloid’s premise about them “not allowing her talent to shine,” it was actually Downey who first publicly expressed that Johansson’s Black Widow should have a standalone movie. Back in 2014, he said in an interview, “Doesn’t Scarlett deserve [her own film]”?
Additionally, at last week’s Los Angeles premiere for Avengers: Endgame, while walking the red carpet with her boyfriend Colin Jost, the co-head writer of “Saturday Night Live” and its “Weekend Update” co-anchor, Johansson joked that she was going to “sabotage” Rudd when he hosts the season finale of “SNL” on May 18. She said she would use her connections at the sketch comedy show to make it “really difficult” for Rudd, before adding, “I’m coming for you, Paul!” And there are literally dozens of other examples of Johansson and her co-stars gushing about or playfully mocking each other during the past decade-plus of the franchise.
Simply, she’s not tired of them, nor are they of her. And she certainly holds her own with the “boys’ club” that followed her lead to get matching tattoos. Lastly, Johansson is naturally looking forward to having her own film, much like Downey, Hemsworth, and Rudd enjoyed starring in their movies Iron Man, Thor, and Ant-Man, respectively. But that doesn’t mean she’s unhappy being part of the original Avengers ensemble.
Like most everyone, Star knew Avengers: Endgame was going to be a box office blockbuster, and it seemingly wanted its own original angle. But the story about Johansson is all untrue. And a source with ties to her assures Gossip Cop the outlet’s premise is bogus. We’re not entirely surprised since that tabloid and its sister publications don’t exactly have a great track record when it comes to reporting about the actress.
Back in 2017, for instance, Gossip Cop busted the magazine when it inaccurately contended Johansson and Jost were getting engaged. That has yet to happen. Oddly, a little more than two weeks after that, the publication’s related outlet, OK!, mistakenly claimed Johansson was dating Bobby Flay. The truth, however, is she and the celebrity chef are just longtime friends.
And just a few months ago, Star wrongly alleged Johansson wanted Jost to quit “SNL,” so that he spend more time with her on the sets of her films. The story was also completely off-base, sources close to the actress and the “Saturday Night Live” star confirmed to Gossip Cop. Much like those aforementioned articles, the latest tale about Johansson being “tired” of hanging out with her Avengers co-stars is also provably false.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
