Are Sarah Silverman and Kate Beckinsale really writing a comedy series together? That’s the big news being reported in one of this week’s new tabloids, but Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively reveal the truth.

Silverman is dating Beckinsale’s ex Michael Sheen, with whom the actress shares an 18-year-old daughter, and the two women get along well. An article in the latest issue of Star now claims the pair has gotten so friendly that they’re planning to work together. A supposed “source” tells the magazine, “Sarah and Kate are both hilarious, and when they meet up the banter is endless.”

The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to say the irreverent comedienne and British actress “may seem like an unlikely pairing, but they’re very entertaining when they get together.” The “source” further contends that Beckinsale’s love life will provide a lot of material for the show, including her recent fling with a 21-year-old comedian. “They always have a laugh no matter how dire Kate’s romantic situation is,” adds the questionable insider. “They could come up with something seriously funny!”

Of course, one of the Hollywood trade magazines would typically get the exclusive about a major project like this, so Gossip Cop was hesitant to believe a random tabloid nabbed this so-called scoop. Our doubts were confirmed after checking with a source close to Silverman, who exclusively assures us she and Beckinsale aren’t collaborating on a TV series together.

Unfortunately, both stars have been the target of fake news stories in the past, so this latest phony article combining the two of them isn’t surprising. Gossip Cop previously busted Star’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, after it wrongly reported Silverman and Sheen were engaged. We also corrected the magazine’s other sister outlet, OK!, after it alleged Beckinsale’s sex scenes with Pierce Brosnan in their recent movie had upset the actor’s wife. This latest story about Silverman and Beckinsale’s nonexistent comedy show is equally bogus.
