Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are not “living separate lives,” despite a bogus tabloid report suggesting that the actor has dumped his wife for a man. Gossip Cop can correct the ridiculous claim.

Broderick recently starred in a Massachusetts production of the play The Closet, in which he played a straight man who pretends to be in a relationship with his gay neighbor to prevent himself from getting fired, as it would suddenly become discrimination. The National Enquirer is now claiming that the actor may have gotten cozy with male co-star Brooks Ashmanskas while the two “shacked up” each night after the show.

An alleged insider tells the magazine that Broderick and Ashmanskas spent their downtime from the show watching movies, cooking meals and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. “It seems he’s choosing to stay put in Williamstown rather than be with his wife,” says the supposed source. “It’s pretty shocking that Sarah’s been dumped and replaced with a man – at least for the summer.”

The suspicious insider further contends that Parker hasn’t seen her husband in several weeks, and would be very upset “if she knew how Matt and his pal were stocking up on booze and playing house together.” The implication here is that Broderick might be cheating on his wife with a man, but that’s not the case.

The outlet’s story is based on information from an anonymous and untraceable “insider,” but reps for Parker and Broderick confirm on the record that their marriage isn’t in trouble and they’re not living “separate lives.” Earlier this year, Parker told People “the secret to a happy marriage” after 20 years. In May, Parker paid tribute to to her husband on Instagram in honor of their 21st wedding anniversary, writing, “May 19th. Yep, it’s a good day to get married.
Happy 21st anniversary baby. XXX, your wife.”

As for the claim that the spouses haven’t seen each other in a while, Broderick’s spokesperson explains that Parker visited him in Massachusetts on July 7 and 8. It’s also worth noting, The Closet only ran from June 26 to July 14, so it’s not as if the actor relocated for a long time.

Unfortunately, the tabloids spend a lot of time and energy trying to break up the happy spouses. In May, the Enquirer’s sister publication, OK!, falsely claimed that Parker and Broderick were “on the rocks.” Star, the magazine’s other sister outlet, wrongly reported in February that Parker and Broderick were having a “marriage crisis.” It’s clear that the gossip media has zero insight into the couple’s strong relationship.
