One of the blogs claims Sara Gilbert is “stressed out” because ABC’s reboot of “Roseanne,” titled “The Conners,” is supposedly “not going well.” Gossip Cop can correct the phony report. We’ve learned it’s completely untrue.
Filming in currently underway on “The Conners,” the spinoff of this year’s “Roseanne” revival, which was canceled in May after Roseanne Barr tweeted a racist remark about former Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett. The new show will focus on Gilbert’s character and feature many additional cast members from the original series and its revival. According to RadarOnline, the actress is in a panic “because filming is not going as well as everyone had hoped.”
A supposed source tells the site, “It just does not feel the same without Roseanne and [Gilbert] knows that the entire fate of the show is falling on her. It’s adding a lot of pressure to her already busy life.” The alleged insider goes on to say that all those involved in the show are nervous about “how the audience will respond” without Barr’s involvement, but are doing their best “to try and make this show funny.” The questionable tipster adds, “They are just hoping that the audience will stick with them during this transition.”
There’s simply no truth to the blog’s account of the situation. A source close to Gilbert tells Gossip Cop the story is “just a complete fabrication.” Meanwhile, a production source tells us they “just finished the first two episodes – they’re incredibly strong and everyone’s feeling good about it.” Also, there’s nothing to indicate that Gilbert, who’s also an executive producer on the show, signed on without being confident in the project. On an episode of “The Talk” back in June, Gilbert said she’s “so excited” for the “Roseanne” spinoff.
It should be noted, RadarOnline has published several bogus stories about the short-lived “Roseanne” revival, both before and after it was canceled. In July, Gossip Cop busted the site for wrongly reporting that Barr was in talks for a new sitcom that would compete directly against “The Conners.” As time has shown, the comedienne hasn’t scored a new show.
Back when the revival was still in production, Gossip Cop called out the blog for falsely claiming that Barr was “pushing” Kabbalah on her co-stars. And shortly after the show premiered, the outlet made up a story about Barr demanding $1 million per episode to return for another season. It’s not surprising that the site is now targeting “The Conners,” but this latest article surrounding Gilbert and the spinoff is simply false.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
