Is Sandra Bullock really helping Charlize Theron find a boyfriend? That's the story one of the tabloids is selling. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we've learned the truth.
Earlier this month, Theron said in an interview she's "been single for 10 years" and is "shockingly available." The actress further joked, "Somebody just needs to grow a pair and step up." According to OK!, Bullock has decided to step in to help her friend find love. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Sandra needled Charlize, telling her, 'You poor thing! I didn't know times were so desperate!'"
The alleged insider goes on to say that Bullock, who's been dating photographer Bryan Randall for three years, offered to set Theron up with one of her boyfriend's pals. "She told Charlize that Bryan has a lot of great, cute friends and she would send them right over," adds the suspicious tipster, who further contends that Bullock is embracing the role of Theron's "wing woman."
The tabloid's article is simply a work of fiction. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who tells us that Bullock hasn't been playing matchmaker for Theron. In fact, the Long Shot star recently backtracked on her comment about being "shockingly available." In a subsequent interview with "Extra," Theron noted she's not looking for love at the moment, adding, "I'm gonna finish this press tour then I'm gonna shoot a movie in London, and I'm figuring like around September we'll talk about this."
Of course, OK! doesn't exactly have a great track record when it comes to reporting about both actresses. Back in January, Gossip Cop called out the publication for wrongly reporting that Bullock was pregnant with a "miracle baby." We debunked the story as soon as it hit newsstands, and time has proven that the actress isn't expecting a child. We also busted the tabloid last month for wrongly reporting that Bullock and Randall had a secret wedding at the actress's ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The actress and her boyfriend haven't gotten married.
Meanwhile, earlier this year OK! was among the tabloids that spread false rumors about Theron dating Brad Pitt. That bogus storyline got dropped after it became apparent the two stars have never been a couple. With its latest article, the tabloid is trying to capitalize on the actress's statement about being "single" by dragging one of her famous friends into the fold. Bullock simply hasn't involved herself in Theron's love life.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
