Sally Field‘s three sons are not trying to find her a boyfriend, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the story. The actress’s spokesperson confirms it’s untrue.
“Sally’s Sons On A Hubby Hunt!” proclaims the National Enquirer. The magazine says the 72-year-old actress’s three adult sons, Peter, 49, Eli, 47, and Sam, 31, have “made it their mission” to get their single mom back into the dating scene. An unidentified “friend” of the actress is quoted as saying, “She looks 20 years younger than she is and they believe their mom has so many wonderful qualities she could offer someone special.”
The anonymous insider adds, “She’s not much for going out, and the thought of a blind date terrifies her. Sam is a screenwriter and filmmaker and he tells his mom he meets all sorts of wonderful older men who would be perfect for her. They’re convinced she’s ready for romance!”
Gossip Cop ran the story by Field’s rep, who dismissed it as “totally absurd.” The only thing true about this story is that the actress looks much younger than her age. It should be noted, Field opened up about being single in a 2016 interview with People magazine, saying that she’s “totally fulfilled” despite not being in a relationship. The actress actually noted in that same interview that her kids are even less concerned about her love life. “As a matter of fact, my sons were always the ones standing at the door saying, ‘She’s not here!'” Field joked.
It’s possible the tabloid was inspired to come up with this story because Field took to Twitter in 2018 to try and set her youngest son up with a figure skater who he had a crush on. The actress was the one who attempted to make a love connection in that case. Other than that, there’s no basis whatsoever for this phony report.
The gossip media seem to have an obsession with the love lives of single actresses. In November 2018, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for falsely claiming Jennifer Aniston went to Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday party just to prowl for a boyfriend. Gossip Cop also called out OK! for making up a story about Sandra Bullock trying to find Charlize Theron a boyfriend after Theron joked about being single in an interview. Hopefully the tabloids will eventually realize that many women are perfectly happy being single, but until they do, Gossip Cop will continue to bust these fake stories.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
