Is Ryan Seacrest really going to bail on Kelly Ripa and “Live” and move back to the West Coast full-time? That’s the claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this inaccurate and unoriginal story.

According to Life & Style, a little more than a year and a half after moving from Los Angeles to New York for the opportunity to co-host “Live” with Ripa, Seacrest is strongly thinking about “bailing on their morning show” and “blindsiding” her. To make it seem like it has exclusive scoop, the magazine quotes what it terms an “insider” as saying, “[Seacrest] misses his life on the West Coast.” The alleged source notes Ripa would be “devastated” if he quit and recently “flat-out asked him if he planned to leave.”

Gossip Cop is going to stop here and point out that if Ripa’s supposedly asking Seacrest if he’s going to walk away from the morning show, then how exactly would he be “blindsiding” her, as alleged. The magazine then acknowledges how the “homesick” Seacrest has a contract. Basically, that’s the outlet way of covering itself when he doesn’t leave “Live.”

Still, since the article is completely manufactured, and the publication appears to want to play any angle it can, it has its anonymous tipster add that, while Seacrest signed a deal, “contracts were made to be broken.” To recap, the tabloid contends Ripa asked Seacrest if he’s leaving, but still somehow she’ll be blindsided when he quits. It also says Seacrest can’t bail on “Live” because he has a contract, but he might do that anyway. The truth, however, coming directly from Seacrest’s camp is that Life & Style’s entire story is “not true.”

To say the tabloid has a bad track record with Seacrest would be an understatement. Nearly two years ago, Gossip Cop busted the magazine when it ran a piece that falsely maintained Ripa and Seacrest were feuding and their “honeymoon” was over. At the time, a rep for the show called the claim untrue and, of course, the two co-hosts have continued working well together.

Following that inaccurate report, the same outlet asserted Ripa wanted to replace Seacrest with Jerry O’Connell as her “Live” co-host. Again, while the publication hid behind an unnamed and untraceable “source,” Ripa’s rep went on the record with Gossip Cop to shoot down the story. The reality is both Seacrest and Ripa enjoy co-hosting the highly rated morning show together. Seacrest, who’s also the show’s executive producer, has no plans to bail on Ripa and permanently go back to California.
