A tabloid recently published a story claiming Ryan Seacrest and girlfriend Shayna Taylor got back together because the TV personality went to therapy and decided he’s ready to get married. There is no truth to the therapy or marriage aspects of the report. Gossip Cop can clear up the situation.
A headline in the latest edition of the National Enquirer states, “Seacrest Walking Down The Aisle After Therapy Cures Cold Feet.” The tabloid isn’t talking about a physical ailment, but refers to the American Idol host’s supposed fear of marriage and claims that he entered treatment in an attempt to “win [Taylor] back.” A “source” is quoted as telling the magazine that “he’s going to therapy to understand what makes him tick!”
There is a tiny bit of truth to this story, but not much. This week, TMZ confirmed that Seacrest and Taylor are back together, with photographs of the two frolicking on a yacht off the Amalfi Coast in Positano, Italy. However, there’s no validity to the idea that Seacrest went to therapy in order to win Taylor back. There’s no wedding in the near future for the couple, either. Gossip Cop checked with a trustworthy individual in Seacrest’s camp, who tells us the story is simply “false.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time the Enquirer has published an inaccurate report about the Live With Kelly and Ryan co-host. Last month, the tabloid ran a story claiming Alex Rodriguez was “furious” over Seacrest’s friendship with Jennifer Lopez. According to the outlet, Seacrest and Lopez were “inseparable… much to Alex’s dismay.” Gossip Cop busted the fictional narrative after checking in with a spokesperson for Lopez, who told us on the record that it was made-up.
In May 2018, the Enquirer got it wrong when it alleged that Seacrest was in a “trial marriage” with Taylor to save his career. The bogus article came on the heels of sexual harassment allegations against the TV personality, who was later cleared of any wrongdoing.
At the time, a “source” said, “Seacrest has been ‘clobbered’ by a sexual harassment scandal and ‘bleak’ ratings for ‘American Idol,’ to the point where a trial marriage may be the ‘key to salvaging’ his ‘battered reputation.'” There was no trial marriage between the couple. The article was published to capitalize on a controversy. Seacrest and Taylor do seem to be dating again, but the tabloid doesn’t have any insight into the the details of their reunion.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
