Ryan Seacrest is not out to “destroy” Megyn Kelly, despite a sensational new report. Gossip Cop has exclusively learned that the story, which tries to set up a feud between the TV stars, is nothing but fake news.

Kelly’s upcoming weekday NBC show will air at 9 a.m., opposite “Live with Kelly and Ryan” on ABC. While a premiere date has not yet been announced, RadarOnline claims Seacrest is already “making it his mission to come out on top.” In fact, the webloid is running the headline, “Ryan Seacrest Takes On Megyn Kelly: I Will Destroy You!” To be clear, he never actually said any such thing, but the phrasing was crafted to make it look like a quote from the former “American Idol” host.

According to the accompanying story, Seacrest has already “launched an all-out war” against Kelly over the “battle for A-list morning TV guests.” A so-called “insider” claims to the site he wants to make it “impossible” for her to “get the A-list bookings” by offering celebrities the opportunity to be on both “Live” and his “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” radio show.

The outlet’s supposed source further alleges Seacrest is already “hitting the phones to his friends to get them on ‘Live’ rather than ‘Today’ with Megyn.” And what about the headline’s contention that Seacrest is vowing to “destroy” Kelly? The actual story spins it a bit differently, claiming he was hired by ABC “because his connections can destroy Megyn.” That’s a significantly different sentiment than the one expressed in the headline.

Regardless, the article is still inaccurate. While RadarOnline insists Kelly is Seacrest’s “rival,” they are really just playing up the timeslot competition to be some kind of major feud. In actuality, the two TV personalities are cordial, and don’t see their shows as true competitors. Seacrest’s co-host Kelly Ripa even addressed that issue in a New York Times interview last week, saying, “It’s always interesting to me when people try to pit us against other shows.”

Now Gossip Cop is further told that there’s “absolutely nothing but respect” between Seacrest and Kelly. The affable TV and radio host is known for having good relationships across the board with fellow media players. He also still has strong ties to NBC, so it makes little sense for him to be trying to “destroy” one of the network’s stars. It’s also worth noting that the weboid has been caught publishing a number of questionable tales about Seacrest over the last week.

That includes a story falsely alleging Ripa was against hiring Seacrest, and two articles that wrongly implied Seacrest was “done” producing “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” a show that’s part of the NBCUniversal family, due to his new gig. Gossip Cop also corrected a piece that ridiculously accused Seacrest of betraying Ripa by possibly hosting the “American Idol” reboot.

The site’s track record with Kelly isn’t much better. The online publication has published a number of untrue articles in recent months, inaccurately claiming Kelly was feuding with Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer. It seems clear at this point that these morning shows are not the webloid’s area of expertise, except for when it comes to crafting allegations for fake news stories.
