The tabloids frequently allege Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are headed for a divorce. Gossip Cop has debunked several different takes on the subject. Here are five wrong rumors.
Last month, Gossip Cop busted OK! for falsely claiming Reynolds was leaning on ex-wife Scarlett Johansson amid supposed marriage problems. According the outlet, the Deadpool star was calling his ex to vent about “the tense situation at home” with Lively. The outlet further contended that Lively would be furious if she found out that Reynolds was “pouring his heart out about their marriage” to Johansson. We debunked the story as soon as it emerged, and earlier this week, Reynolds gushed about his marriage in an interview with People magazine, noting that he and his wife “operate as a unit.” The actor explained that the two never take on projects at the same time and travel as a family with their daughters whenever one of them is working.
Also last month, Gossip Cop called out OK! for wrongly reporting that Reynolds and Lively were divorcing over rumors he cheated on her with a twenty-something woman in Los Angeles. The tabloid had few details and zero proof to back up its story, but maintained that the couple’s marriage was falling apart. Around the same time the bogus story was published, the happy spouses left flirty messages on each other’s Instagram pages. They never broke up over imaginary cheating rumors that were invented by the magazine.
Last August, Gossip Cop debunked a Star story claiming Reynolds’ anxiety was ruining his marriage and Lively was begging him to get therapy. The bogus article came on the heels of the the actor opening up about his struggle with anxiety in a New York Times interview. Reynolds told the publication he’s been struggling with the disorder his whole life, so the idea it was all of a sudden causing problems in his marriage didn’t make much sense. The magazine was simply trying to capitalize on the actor’s revelation.
In March 2018, Gossip Cop busted OK! for falsely alleging Reynolds and Lively were living separate lives and headed for a split. The outlet maintained the spouses were putting their careers ahead of their marriage and were struggling “to find quality time together.” But as noted above, the actor explained this past week that the two always travel together when they’re working. Lively had also shared that sentiment in a 2017 interview with People magazine, noting that she and Reynolds “don’t work at the same time” because they want to always be together as a family.
And finally, Gossip Cop called out NW in 2017 for falsely contending that Reynolds and Lively were “headed for a split” over time apart. The tabloid alleged that distance was taking a toll on the couple as she filmed her upcoming thriller The Rhythm Section in Ireland. In reality, the actress’s husband and their two daughters were with her the entire time she shot the film in Dublin. The happy spouses are still going strong, and the passage of time has disproven every phony article mentioned above.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
