One of this week's tabloids claims Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have been "living separate lives" for more than a year. The story is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can correct it.
According to NW, the couple is on the brink of a split after seven years together. "They're hanging by a thread and have little in common besides their two children," says a supposed insider. "They spend hardly any time together and haven't had a date night in months. She's a homebody who gets all her fulfillment from the kids while he's working most of the time."
The alleged source goes on to say that even when Gosling is home, "It's only for a brief period and he seems so miserable when he is." To back up its premise, the magazine notes Gosling was recently spotted holding a sheet of papers while grabbing lunch in Los Angeles. The outlet maintains they were "legal documents" and he's filing for divorce. The problem with this theory is that Gosling and Mendes aren't married. In reality, the actor appeared to be holding a script.
Still, the questionable tipster adds, "People are buzzing they're headed for a split, which could open the gates for a legal battle over the kids and their assets." The seemingly nonexistent insider continues, "It's been real shaky between them. A lot of their friends worry it's just a matter of time before they finally call it quits."
None of this is true. In fact, Gosling and Mendes were spotted on a hike in Los Angeles with their two daughters just a few weeks ago. Additionally, the tabloid alleges the couple have been living "separate lives" for at least 14 months, but Gosling and Mendes were spotted house hunting in Pasadena last April.
Just a few months ago, Mendes gushed about Gosling and their two daughters in an interview with E! News. When asked how she balances motherhood with her career as a designer and actress, Mendes credited her strong "support system," adding, "I have my family, I have Ryan's family and that's just like, invaluable to have family around supporting you."
These bogus split rumors have surrounded the couple for quite some time. Back in October 2017, Gossip Cop busted the National Enquirer for falsely claiming Gosling had "dumped" Mendes and moved out of their home. In March of that year, Star published a phony cover story saying Gosling and Mendes had split over the actor's friendship with Emma Stone. There's simply no truth to this ongoing drama being peddled by the tabloids.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
