Is Robert Redford writing a tell-all memoir? One of this week's tabloids claims the 82-year-old actor plans to release a book revealing all the secrets of his past romances and other intimate details about his life. Gossip Cop looked into the claim and we've learned the truth.
The legendary actor has been notoriously private when it comes to his personal life, but according to OK!, he's "gearing up to pen an epic memoir" in which he'll finally open up about his many relationships. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Robert's not leaving any stone unturned. He wants to set the record straight about him and Natalie Wood, Jane Fonda and the other women in his life."
The outlet's questionable source adds, "He's also going to include the reason he finally married [Sibylle Szaggars in 2009] after years of avoiding the altar." According to the tipster, Redford also plans to "address painful memories," including the death of his mother, who passed away at age 40 after giving birth to stillborn twins. "He's hoping this will be like therapy and bring him peace," adds the seemingly phony insider.
The tabloid's article is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Redford's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's false. The actor's rep, speaking on his behalf, confirms he has no plans to write a tell-all memoir.
It's worth noting, Redford already authorized a 2011 biography about his life. The actor granted the book's author, Michael Feeney Callan, hours of interviews and even shared his diaries with the biographer. However, the book didn't delve too deeply into the actor's romances as he was hesitant to divulge many details about his past lovers. There's no reason to believe the actor is prepared to do so on his own just a few years later.
Meanwhile, this idea of a celebrity "tell-all" is a subject that's constantly recycled by the tabloids. Last year, for example, Gossip Cop busted OK! for wrongly reporting that Kris Jenner was writing a "revenge memoir" about Caitlyn Jenner. As time has shown, no such book was released or is in the works.
And just last month, the magazine's sister outlet, RadarOnline, falsely claimed that Jennifer Aniston was writing a "blockbuster tell-all," in which she'd spill the secrets of her marriages to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. That book is also nonexistent. Perhaps the tabloids just start penning accurate reports instead of stories about fictional memoirs.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
