Though Robert Pattinson's relationship with Kristen Stewart ended a long time ago and both moved on with new romances, 2017 was yet another year in which they were repeatedly linked in the gossip media. One such rumor came courtesy of Life & Style, which in September alleged Stewart and Pattinson were on their way to "getting back together."
The tabloid maintained there were "signs" that were "pointing toward the Twilight stars rekindling their fiery romance." For example, the gossip magazine referenced an interview Stewart did with Harper's Bazaar, in which she said she'd be open to dating men in the future, despite currently being involved with women. Of course, the actress' comment was in no way a specific reference to her former boyfriend and it was wrong to misconstrue it as some kind of evidence that she was looking to reunite with him.
Still, the outlet maintained Stewart was still carrying a "torch" for Pattinson, and even quoted a so-called "insider" as asserting, "Robert and Kristen have become very close again... [They] are talking all the time." This purported source, who unnaturally went from referring to "Robert" to "Rob," went on to claim, "Rob's pals would love to see them get back together." The publication failed to recognize, however, that it frankly didn't matter what any of their friends would supposedly want or not want. All that mattered was what Pattinson and Stewart wanted.
And although the tabloid insisted a "Bella-Edward reunion seems imminent," the former couple still has not reunited nearly four months later because, as Gossip Cop rightly said at the time, neither intended on reconciling with each other. In fact, far from it, Stewart is still dating Stella Maxwell, with whom she was seen out just days ago. She wasn't getting back together with Pattinson in September and she still isn't now in December.
As Gossip Cop looks back at some of the year's top rumors, we were also inspired to dig through our archives to take a look at some of the other big claims Life & Style has made about Pattinson and Stewart in the past. Two in particular caught our eye. In October 2012, the magazine published a cover story falsely announcing a "secret wedding" for the pair. A month later, the outlet declared they were "ready to be parents" together. Maybe in 2018 the publication will finally be ready to start telling the truth.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
