Patton Oswalt mocked the joke Robert Pattinson told on last week’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” about refusing to masturbate a dog for a scene in his new movie Good Time. On Monday, the comedian referenced Pattinson’s joke in a tweet.

As Gossip Cop reported, Pattinson said during his appearance on the late night talk show that the directors behind his new movie tried to convince him to pleasure a dog during filming, but he declined. After the story stirred controversy and accusations of animal abuse, Pattinson released a statement clarifying that he was only joking. “The story I told on Jimmy Kimmel last night seems to have spiraled out of control,” the actor said. “What didn’t come across is that this was supposed to be a joke. No one at all expected or assumed that anything like that would happen on the Good Time set.”

Now, Oswalt has poked fun at the situation by tweeting, “I refused to masturbate my curvy dog, whom I love.” The reference was lost on most of the comedian’s followers, but a couple of Twitter users played along. One person responded, “PETA should be calling you any moment now to congratulate you for your courage.” As Gossip Cop noted, PETA praised Pattinson after he told the anecdote about supposedly refusing to touch the animal’s genitals, despite the account of events turning out to be a joke.

Another one of Oswalt’s followers quipped, “And that’s why Good Time went to Pattinson! You gotta commit to your art if you’re ever gonna succeed in this industry!” Oswalt, an avid tweeter with more than four millions followers, is well known for mocking current events and pop culture. Meanwhile, Pattinson will return to the talk show circuit on Wednesday for an interview on Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show.” Gossip Cop suspects the actor won’t use the appearance to try out edgy humor.
